for some reason I can't see the pic....... :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
That pic opened my mind. It's like tasting colours I have never seen before.

I have found enlightenment. All is right in this world. And it's all because I got to see that pic. 8-)

Not really back issues, but I did pick up some sweet art over the last couple of weeks. The first is a Dave Sim Cerebus sketch. I've always wanted a nice Cerebus piece and this one met the criteria with ease.

Image

The second is an Al Williamson/Frank Frazetta John Wayne page from issue #4 of the series. There has been one page that kept coming up eBay time and again, always selling, always changing hands. This is my second choice, but it's been more than a year since the one I really wanted showed up. It's still some nice art, still has The Duke in it, and has some nice detail. Plus, it's Al Williamson and Frank Frazetta!

Jay Tomio wrote:$95 Shipped. Which is only slightly below GPA for the advertised 9.4.

If it grades out, it will save me at least $40 I was willing to pay for the one at Clink.

I just finally wanted it - go tired of it on my want list :thumb:
Ow.

I still can't believe you picked up that cerebus sketch for $50 (that was you right?). They've got sketches now going for over $200 on ebay. Did Dave Sim die or something and I didn't know?

It was $99, but it came framed and ready to hang, so I figure the sketch wasn't more than $50 on its own. Fully inked too....

Wow! That's something Brother Grimm. Ive just recently started buying Cerebus in the last year or so and I find this a much harder run of books to get than your average super-hero. Good luck with the last 5. :thumb:

$99! That is a very nice purchase man. A great picture of Cerebus...from his High Society days. :thumb:

Thanks! I'm really jazzed about nearing the end on this one. I don't remember when I started it, but it's been a long, long road.

Yeah, I thought so as well :thumb:

Honestly, the only reason why I buy 60's and 70's horror or war comics are for what I think are some of the best covers you can find ever in comics. Kubert war comics covers are just awesomem and I love anything by Cardy, Adams, Wrightson, Toth, Kaluta, and Heath. Aparo a tends to be more uneven to me , but his best work is up there as well.
Your comic collection is starting to p!ss me off...  :thumb:

(Seriously though great collection :thumb:)

I don't target books I can't - or in my case, more aptly refuse - to afford in High Grade :D Which basically eliminates Golden Age from my equation. The only exceptions are a handful of Marvel Myserys/Tales I own. Other than that I don't really own a book that grades below an 8.0 (which I have one of). I'd say 99.9% of what I own is 9.2+ with about 90% of those being 9.4+. I'm very good about tossing non-HG books.

My definition of HG is 9.4+ - or a 9.2 (if pre-1980) with superior centering and presentation.

I will probably amend that rule as I will be looking to start my Phantom Stranger Golden Age run this year.
Dang what are you on drugs? Its a bit early over there in Sardegna isn't it? :bugeyed:

Almost 6 am

A pot of Italian coffee from the place across the street - and a bit of white widow for the pipe.

I have been keeping up with some auction comics sales so no sleep yet :thumb:
Nothing like the smell of ebay purchases in the morning

Lots of late 60's war, but his best work, bar none, are his grey tone covers on GI Combat #75-100ish.
