I don't want to litter the forum with a "check out my haul" thread, so I figured this is the best place to post this. I hit a local shop after work today, hoping to find a particular book (which they didn't have), but I did find a small batch of books which I'm very happy with. Organization doesn't seem to be high on the list of this store's priorities (nor is condition, apparently, as a ton of back issues weren't bagged, and almost none of them had price tags. I asked how much the unpriced books were, and the guy there said they'll be like $2 or so. Lovely. So I hunted through their back issues to see what I could find. I checked out their new books and picked up a few Valiants for cover (see image). I was intrigues by the fact that their new books seem to never make it to the back issue bins, as their Harbinger slot included quite a few copies of #1. Anyway, I got the below for a total of $38:

I had no idea Static was a hot book. There might be a bubble.

All New Marvel Point One. Could end up being the 1st app of Kamala Kahn, or the 1st app of Kamala Kahn as ms Marvel, or could be her 2nd app, but first cover.

It's a bit confusing, but one to look out for.

For the record (as of now), the "industry" (meaning "us") has said
Capt Marvel 14 = Kamala Kahn cameo
Capt Marvel 17 = 1st Kamala Kahn
Ms Marvel #1 = 1st KK titled book

All of these books have BIG time legs for the future. LOTS of heat on these books at shows.
I found CM #14 and #17 sitting in my pullbox today, I must have overlooked them, I bought them for cover price.

They're making a movie, which pretty much gives any first appearance a bump. (Although the Platinum is probably the grail as far as Static goes; wish I had something better than my 8.0.) I grabbed a couple of the polybagged issues from Mile High for $2 and the next day they upped it to over $10.

I really like the Static series when it came out in the '90s. (Many of the Milestone comics, actually.) I heard there's a relaunch of the line planned for later this year. If you were looking to collect, now may be the time to look for anything you don't already have.

I should probably amend the above and say that the last issue is probably the grail, but one mostly cares about that if one is looking for a complete run.

Some updates.... Valiant still not getting the love it deserves. I posted on a Facebook group I picked up Eternal Warrior 1 gold for $1.

Justice League 40 is $8 and rising at some stores. Anyone else noticing that issue 40's of DC books seemed to be low orders? No combo packs to be found of any DC books in the late 30's. Variants are wearing very thin in the L.A area. 1 week $100 3 weeks later $10. Non Player is a very hot book. Later prints of DC and Marvel books getting harder to get because of low orders. No Valiant later prints, sometimes even when ordered.

Just some info for this thread. I will post more when I get out more!

Greg Rucka has sold the rights for Lazarus to be made into a TV show, while still having creative control over the direction of it. The series is seriously high level, intelligent, quality storytelling. It'll make for a fantastic TV series.

Could be a long way from actually being produced, but is it time to speculate? :hm:

They have been speculating since before the book came out! It was optioned by book 1 or 2 if I am not mistaken. Or maybe I just kept hearing it was? :hm: Anyway I don't think it's a strong candidate for speculation unless you can get it cheap. Just mho.

Ninjak 4 ships this week. When I first saw the A cover, my first thought was, "this is just the sort of cover that makes the book a hot commodity, regardless of the content."* Of course, the content on the first 3 issues has been excellent, in my opinion.

*so I arranged to buy a few extra

Dude. I don't mean to pull a nanny-nanny-boo-boo, but that issue is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see the general reaction to it after tomorrow!

And you're right, it's a fantastic cover. I love Jelena's artwork. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

In the letters column of #17 (current issue), Greg made an announcement about it as though it was fresh news. Like he had just agreed to sell the rights.

Poorly kept secret? Or the letters column was written 2 months ago?, most seem to do the letters columns well before. Of course he may have been negotiating for a long time (out here nothing stays secret! Lol) and he is finally talking about it because now it's a done deal? You hear so much stuff it's easy to lose track. facepalm

I was fortunate enough to buy all the #1 variants for Lazarus in CGC 9.8 right before the TV series news broke, plus I picked up the #2 SDCC variant in CGC 9.8. :cloud9:

Walking dead #109 has the preview pages, like Capes 1 and Agents #6 has preview pages for TWD.
So walking dead 109 is the 1st app (preview pages) of Lazarus.
