Re: Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI)
Updated for Rai #6, The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage #5, The Valiant #2, Ivar, Timewalker #1.
The final few pages of Ivar, Timewalker revealed a date so far into the future it was presented as 10 x 10^10^56...
I'm decent at math, but I honestly have no clue how that would translate into standard numerical or decimal format. If there are any math geniuses, I'd definitely appreciate some help translating that.

Re: Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI)
Well, that's impractical to say the least. I assume it was written to be read 10*10^(10^56) and not 10*(10^10)^56? The latter is 10^561 but the first is a number that just can't be handled. If one would try to translate it into standard format, one would run out of available matter in the universe while barely started. I guess van Lente is familiar with some theories on the possible time the universe can exist, as this number is smaller, but still unimaginably huge. Thing is, it would be so huge that any attempt to describe it would be an approximation so rough that it's an epic fail. For instance, to compare it with the current age of the universe (roughly 10^10) shows that this number is 10^(10^56-9) times larger. To subtract 9 from 10^56 seems like a bad joke and then we're not talking about the year from Timewalker itself, but only about how approximate that number must be, using the age of the universe as approximation. The approximation factor is so approximate that we barely can manage it.DIrishB wrote:Updated for Rai #6, The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage #5, The Valiant #2, Ivar, Timewalker #1.

Anyway, the short answer is that is does not translate into standard numerical or decimal format.

I'm pretty sure it is the latter.magnusr wrote:Well, that's impractical to say the least. I assume it was written to be read 10*10^(10^56) and not 10*(10^10)^56? I'm sure that was the intent. Van Lente does like to have fun with his stories, so I'm guessing its intended to be an impossible number. If one would try to translate it into standard format, one would run out of available matter in the universe while barely started. Re: Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI)
The date was presented as:
OBLIVI-1 (this is just the location so irrelevant in terms of the date)
A.D. 10 x 10 10 56
Of course the smaller numbers are to the upper right corners of each other to indicate the exponent, but I don't think its possible to portray that in HTML/BBCode.

Re: Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI)
Updated for X-O Manowar #35.
Had to break up the timeline across the first two posts, since I'd reached the 60,000 character limit on the first one. I just placed the released date guide at the beginning of the reading guide in the third post.
That should leave enough space through X-O Manowar #65 or so, along with other future titles Valiant releases.
At that point, I may just do a Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI) 2.0 post, and re-post everything up to that point, while intentionally leaving open a few posts following it to reserve for future expansions as necessary per the 60,000 character limit.

Re: Valiant Timeline / Chronology (VEI)
Updated for Ivar, Timewalker #4, Divinity #3, and Ninjak #2.
Divinity #3 firmly places the present day portions of Divinity in 2014. In 1987 Abram and his crew mates discover the "unknown", and it takes Abram 27 years to return to Earth, placing his return firmly in 2014.

This timeline is outstanding. Thanks for putting it together!DIrishB wrote:Thanks Bugsy. And yes, the original universe was much more specific in terms of the passage of time, the newer one not so much, so it definitely adds to the challenge. Hence wanting to hear input and opinions from the fellow fans here, about where certain issues/arcs may take place in relation to each other. I still think overall the release of issues can be a guideline for placement, but not strictly.BugsySig wrote:Great work. Kudos to you.![]()
I think your strategy is just fine. Much more difficult than VH1, so well done thus far.
Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age!
