because I just acquired the monthlies! The first two trades are going to the public library where they may become seeds, spreading to the multitudes of readers throughout the city. (Would've been a cooler story if they were X-O TPBs though, so lets go with nanites or something like that)

I figured that there might be plenty floating around in that one mail/share deal that was started back when and that this would be good to spread Valiant to the up and coming.

That's great to hear!
My husband and I donated a whole lot of Valiant to libraries- Be sure to tell them you want it in circulation and to speak to someone about it! I think it's easier for libraries to have a bulk of new items to add to their database, so that is something to talk to someone about to ensure it gets on the shelf! Sometimes they take donations and turn it around and sell it in their used bookstore selections
Again-- awesome thing to donate

A good tip. I will stop by in a couple of days to see if they made it onto the shelves. I haven't heard of my library doing anything like that though.

I have a friend who is head of circulation for our public library system and I have another friend who used to work in a different library system. Both have told me that there are huge headaches involved with adding donations to their shelves. Our local library has a mega sale once a year where all donations and discards are sold to raise money to buy more books. Seems dumb to me but both friends swear it is for the best.
Regardless of where your books end up, they have the potential to plant seeds, as you said. So bravo for your choice to share!

+1, regardless of whether they end up in circulation or sold, that's commendable that you donated them.A I Diva wrote:I have a friend who is head of circulation for our public library system and I have another friend who used to work in a different library system. Thanks. While out, I just thought of the amusing subject line and figured that I would share. I guess my next goal then will be to drop a one-shot or zero off somewhere and then spy to see if anybody picks it up for a read. Perhaps a campus center. I heard myself referred to as "our Valiant Guy" by my local comic book store and realized something had to change. It was an honorable badge, but I do not want to be the only one in my town. Some of these fellow comic book fans are missing out.
