Any idea what Valiant has in store for FCBD? Any store variants? It's been quiet in the press and the boards on FBCD and its only a couple weeks away.

I'm always left out in the cold on FCBD as the trade organization I'm involved in has its annual meeting on FCBD every year. I have never attended a FCBD event because of it.

No store variants this year. Trust me, I asked :) There are real legit reasons that they are not doing it.

It's my understanding there is an Ultimate Comics version, and then the regular FCBD... and that's it.

Thanks, Ed. What was the reasoning behind not doing store variants? Too much work? Lost copies (Greg)? Low return?

Bleeding Cool has a picture of the FCBD Valiant 25th anniversary exclusive cover by Tommy Lee Edwards for Ultimate Comics. Unstickered versions will be on eBay and sold for charity.

Probably has the shop info on a sticker - FCBD books are supposed to be advertisements for publishers and shops to both benefit.

I guess that's why they'll be sold for charity.

From the article:
A portion of each auction will be donated to charity!
1% is a portion. Great that some proceeds will be going to charity, I'm just not confident that it's a substantial amount.

The LCS does pay for the books, though. They are advertisement material in general. I see no problem with it.

True... FCBD books cost me $0.50 each between the per item cost and the shipping.

When LCS pay $1 or $2 for regular comics they sell, paying $0.50 each for FCBD is like giving away half a regular issue.

If a comic shop gives away 19 FCBD books and sells one for $10, they basically break even.

I hope I can get the 25th Ann. FCBD issue - I usually miss out on getting to a shop during that day most of the time. My LCS may or may not be willing to hold one back for me, they're pretty strict about doing that... As in, they don't like to do that.

Okay, so I'm still at a loss to guess what would prevent the store variants, at this point. :?

Maybe it was a logistical nightmare.

Probably, but it seemed like Ed was insinuating something more. Not that I mind, just curious.

How did everyone's FCBD go? Nice weather made it a fine day to get some comics. At first glance my favorite pick is Bob's Burgers. Got some of the usuals, superhero stuff, the Bongo misc stuff and got a TMNT because it reminded me of the carton from my childhood.

I managed to get one easily. My store had a get two free but you have to pay a dollar for more (the dollar goes to a local charity) so I`m curious as to how many picked up Valiants book as opposed to DC or Marvels. Also hope some of you grabed Captain Canuck.

Are there different comics depending on the store? I didn't see a Captain Canuck.
