It sounds like his contract just restricts him from working for DC.

Re: Jeff Lemire Signs Marvel Exclusive Contract...
Not for Valiant, but allowance for work at other companies is pretty standard with so-called exclusive contracts. In mout cases, the creators can finish works in progress and creator owned properties, but usually cannot start on New projects outside thier contract.Keith wrote:... but can still work for Valiant?

I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

Hmm... Well as long as he can continue Bloodshot: Reborn I guess I'm okay with this.Keith wrote:... but can still work for Valiant?

I was kinda hoping he would just jump around to every company.

I think Dysart is happy writing his one book per month and having plenty of time for other projects.krylox wrote:![]()

Besides, I can't see Marvel or DC editorial allowing him to be as freely creative as VEI has.

could be. still, marvel has a very good track record of recruiting the best of talent. dysart's harbinger run and his imperium stint can't have been left unseen by marvel editorial. and since their x-books lack direction for quite some time...BugsySig wrote:I think Dysart is happy writing his one book per month and having plenty of time for other projects.krylox wrote:![]()

there are not many who have resisted the call to write a big franchise book. i would much rather prefer dysart to add some creator-owned series to his output, but i guess an x-book pays a lot better.

Re: Jeff Lemire Signs Marvel Exclusive Contract...
Doesn't sound like much of an 'exclusive' contract to me. "Works for Marvel - Also Valiant, Dark Horse, Image, and other creator-owned properties". Seems a bit Mickey Mouse to me. If I were to take a guess it's probably some kind of arrangement like putting dibs on him so that when all his other contracts expire, he'll *then* be exclusive. Just a guess, whatever...

Re: Jeff Lemire Signs Marvel Exclusive Contract...
These articles about contracts should instead say "...signs deal to not work with DC" saying exclusive is misleading. Of course, misleading is what bleedingcool is good for!Shadowman99 wrote:Doesn't sound like much of an 'exclusive' contract to me. What's with all the dislike of Matt Kindt, I think he's an outstanding write and has given us = Rai (amazing), Divinity (brilliant), The Valiant (great), NINJAK (nuff said) and Unity is awesome as well. His work has been excellent and valiant is lucky to have him.Tim wrote:I hope Kindt is.krylox wrote:![]()

I think the negativity is from a very small minority
There was some negative posts about The Valiant ... but when a poll was created about it - it showed that only 3 hated it and around 90% liked it or loved it.
I think the overwhelming majority here - love what Kindt has brought to the VEI universe.
I do have my issues with Kindt. I think he has many brilliant ideas - but the execution at times isn't great.
I think the lack of execution at times could just be the result of doing 10 books a month

Limiere and Kindt are stars in the industry.
I'm stoked Valiant has them.
Marvel is smart to get JL "exclusive", even if it just means he can not do any DC books.

While agree with the masses that Dysart is pretty good at what he does, recent Harbinger stuff (I have yet to read Imperium, which I hear is pretty awesome) is not as good as the first year of Harbinger. I'm getting a little tired of Harada.Elveen wrote:What!!!!!!bygranddesign wrote:Making excuses?ilzuccone wrote:so some people make excuses and exceptions for him others (three others) don'tbygranddesign wrote:+1p-s manowar wrote:What's with all the dislike of Matt Kindt, I think he's an outstanding write and has given us = Rai (amazing), Divinity (brilliant), The Valiant (great), NINJAK (nuff said) and Unity is awesome as well.
