Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Comics Of Any Era
Sorry to hear about your experience. Jesse James Comics is my regular comics shop. I will mention your experience next time I am there and make suggestions to him. He doesn't do the shipping or packing himself and he may not be aware of the issue directly.
When I was there last week he had stacks of these. Sometimes I read about the books in this thread and think I should have bought 20 or so from him. But 90% of my money goes to Valiant.

slym2none wrote:I ordered a Silk #1 from jessejamescomics on eBay. $8, free shipping via USPS Priority Flat-Rate Padded Envelope.
I get it in the mail, not only in a manila envelope sent via 1st Class, but there was no bubble-wrap, two pieces of flimsy cardboard cut from the thinnest USPS box that are the EXACT same size as the bag&board, and the comic wasn't even secured to the cardboard! The eBay ad states the comic will be in 9.4 shape, and while it somehow didn't get too banged up, it's more like a 9.0 now. I left him a positive with the feedback stating that it was not sent in the packaging described in the listing, and killed his item description DSR, as that's the only one I could leave ratings on - free shipping immediately gets 5 stars, even though he didn't live up to what his listing described. I think that's *SQUEE*, because I could tell people I am shipping all my items free and they will be boxed in a Priority 1095 box, and send it in an envelope to save money. No DSR dings. Total *SQUEE*.
Fair warning for you all. I, for one, will never buy anything from them again. They are out of AZ, by the way.

I have purchased books twice from Jesse James. Both times, the books appear to have bad water damage. Books were listed as very fine. Hadn't even thought about it until I read Slym's comment.

Thank you! The lack of any padding, the cardboard not being larger than the book, the book not being secured to the cardboard, and the misdirection of the type of shipping are the concerns.x-omatic wrote:Sorry to hear about your experience. Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Comics Of Any Era
That's a lot of concerns for shipping one comic book. Seems like they'd move along the learning curve at some point.

NARU = Not a registered user
On their facebook page they say it is temporary while they dispute a payment.

Resident Alien series from Dark Horse was just picked up for a TV show - small print run and looks like the lower priced issues and full runs are starting to get snapped up. Nothing pushing big money yet but something to look at since it was reported on BC.

It was a fantastic story, in my opinion, and I was hoping for more. I think the first appearance would be Dark Horse Presents #1? I hope I still have that run. I'll pull those out for a prescreen.Trenton Sy wrote:Resident Alien series from Dark Horse was just picked up for a TV show - small print run and looks like the lower priced issues and full runs are starting to get snapped up. The article I read made it seem like it was an option only. I hope it gets at least the pilot treatment. I think it would make a good show.

Which prices on EW 4 stood out to you, hulkman181? It's kind of hard to tell on my phone. Thanks.

Everything's spiking right now...EW 4 is hitting $20 raw, X-O 1 is hitting $20-$30 raw, Harby # 1's are being scooped up including 9.6 & 9.8 slabs, Shadowman 1 and X-O 4 are going for $15 or so raw, etc....Magnus 5 raw, $25... it appears the movie speculation has begun.StarBrand wrote:Which prices on EW 4 stood out to you, hulkman181? I think we're finally about to see some VEI books going for above cover price. I mean first print non-variants, of course.
