Mike Wieringo is tough, I think.
Also, good luck getting Alan Moore.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
I added those to the top post. I researched them a bit by checking eBay for SS books they signed that may be available, then added them. Thanks, Tim.Tim wrote:Mike Wieringo is tough, I think.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
The three creators I have listed in the top post as rare so far each have one SS book on eBay, when a search of their name is followed by SS. Comparatively, a search on eBay for Bob Layton SS brought up 68 items. A search for Jim Shooter brought up 9 items.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
I've heard (from an Authorized Witness) that Erik Larsen and a few others HATE Siganture Series and won't sign books if they're obviously being SS'ed, but the abundance of Erik Larsen SS books makes me wonder.

That Wieringo book that's showing up is actually not signed by him. That's a tribute book Hero Initiative put together after his death.

Thanks for that clarification.Tim wrote:'StarBrand wrote:The three creators I have listed in the top post as rare so far each have one SS book on eBay, when a search of their name is followed by SS.

I think Sam Keith is up there too, although not as hard as it was 5-7 years ago.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
Really you can add any artist from overseas, I.e. Mico, Segovia, Bianchi, Esad. Other might be harder because they attend few cons with CGC. Although this may be changing because CGC is getting more "associates" and authorized witnesses. But what do you guys think will happen when cbcs starts authenticating old sigs?
Re: Rare SS Sigs
I added Sam Keith. Not a single Sam Keith SS book on eBay at the moment. Thanks.GGSAE wrote:I think Sam Keith is up there too, although not as hard as it was 5-7 years ago.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
You make a good point on the overseas artists. As far as what happens when CBCS starts authenticating old sigs, I don't know but I think it's going to be way cool!Ramses818 wrote:Really you can add any artist from overseas, I.e. Rare SS Sigs
Generally speaking, I could care less about SS books; it's just not my jam. Not to mention, there are certain individuals that sign FAR too much, in turn down-grading the value of a given book, IMNSHO.
OTOH, I freely admit there are a couple of truly actual rare sigs that would be well worth the money to invest in with an SS book. Sam Keith, for sure, is one.
But, for me, a Barry Windsor-Smith sig on a book like an A&A #0 GOLD, Solar #10, or a Conan #1 would be an exceptional collector piece in an SS 9.8 .

Re: Rare SS Sigs
Here's the story of one that should become rare:
http://boards.collectors-society.com/ub ... 77&fpart=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
tl;dr - Mike Dringenburg is a *SQUEE* little man who signed a fan's book "For Ebay" when it was for the person's personal collection. CGC board followers probably already know this story, as it has become part of that board's legend.

Geez, what a *SQUEE*. So, did it ever get resolved?slym2none wrote:Here's the story of one that should become rare:

Re: Rare SS Sigs
There was no resolution. Sean now has a book in his collection signed "For Ebay" but the infamy has made that book one of his prized possessions.

So, the *SQUEE*'s rep didn't do anything as was being discussed at the end of the thread? What a tool.slym2none wrote:There was no resolution. Sean now has a book in his collection signed "For Ebay" but the infamy has made that book one of his prized possessions.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
I was standing in line to get my #1 copy of "Lazarus" signed by Greg Rucka at Planet ComiCon in Kansas City, MO. Standing in front of me was some jerk and his wife that had bought as many Rucka written books they could find at the Con and they wanted him to sign every copy. There was at least 1 long box full of comics. Rucka was the perfect gentleman and asked them to step aside so he can sign for other people. That guy deserved a "For eBay!" on every book.400yrs wrote:That's dick, but funny because in a lot of cases, it's true.

Re: Rare SS Sigs
Same thing happened at a George Perez signing I went to with my kids. We actually ended up leaving without meeting George because it was a school night, but I did let the that guy and others like him know how uncool that was. 1-5 sure I understand, but a short or long box?! Go *SQUEE* yourself!mkb28 wrote:I was standing in line to get my #1 copy of "Lazarus" signed by Greg Rucka at Planet ComiCon in Kansas City, MO. Re: Rare SS Sigs
That's when creators should start charging for sigs - the first 5 for free, after that, $1 per.
