I remember seeing that in the LCS and the art didn't fly with me. I also think Avatar has a ton of variants, which can be the death of any price appreciation. It's funny how collectors immediate shy away from books with variants.

I started collecting "Caliban" by Garth Ennis from Avatar and they do publish quite a few variants for each monthly book. I believe they put out 5 different covers for each monthly book. I bought all the #1 variant covers and now they are releasing a couple more #1 variant covers due the popularity of the series. I decided to only collect the Wrap Cover variant for issues 2-X. Just way too expensive to keep buying 5 different covers. facepalm

I found this eBay listing which shows several variant covers:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CALIBAN-1-1-1-1 ... 2ed449aeb7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess I am following the same format for collecting VEI books. I buy all the #1 variants for the regular monthly titles, not the mini-series titles, and then just collect a single issue for 2-X.

Looks like Invincible 1-20 are on the rise again. #1 Cgc 9.8 was $275 ish a year or so ago. Last one sold for $440 and it appears to be solid at $400 for the time being.

What's impressive, aside from it being the best super hero book out there, is that this series has always been on a slow and steady rise. Yeah, there are peaks and troughs, but overall, it has always been upward.

Glad I still have multiples of the early issues, but I wish I still had the #1s I sold.

The thought occurs to me that if the above two titles are hot because of a tv show announcement, how hot will the Valiant back issues become of the first Valiant movie or tv show property once it's actually confirmed? I'd like some comments on this. I mean, we might see some back issues of Valiant books skyrocket immediately once something like this is confirmed. I think such an announcement like this on a Valiant property is coming soon. Maybe very soon.

I have a sinking feel this has been discussed before. It's hard to say, if you look at the Green Arrow modern comics, the modern ones are really hot because of the show, but the ones from the 80s don't sell for jack.

The A&A #0 Gold has seen a bit of a bump. I think there's been signs that some people are accumulating other A&A books, but not much of a price move. I managed to grab some VEI #1 2nd and third prints from dollar boxes at Special Edition. That might end up being a really good find.

It's not official there's an Archer & Armstrong movie coming, is it? When it's official, then let's see what happens.

Wow, those are going crazy already ... some dinged up copies are going for close to $100.

I don't know if Blood remembers this or not, but last year in San Diego I was looking for a good copy of this and wound up buying three since they were so cheap. Now I have to remember where I put them so I can sell a couple this week.

I would hold off on picking up any HtD books. I heard that the end scene in GotG was mostly a joke about end scenes in comic book movies, and that Marvel doesn't actually have any plans to do anything with the character. If that's true, the price should drop when that's revealed. I don't see it getting much higher than it is now, as the expectation of a new Howard movie is probably completely baked into the price at the moment.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.
