Well that's a good deal. 3 bucks to be caught up. I'd be interested to hear what you think. I don't want to sound like a shill (or God forbid, an I-liked-it-before-it-was-cool doofus), but I don't see it ever mentioned on any boards or forums and Valiant fans seem like they appreciate a good story that doesn't need a huge marketing blitz.SJS4 wrote:Sounds like an interesting premise. I noticed #1 is now only 0.99 so i bought it. Will give it a read and see if i like it.
Plus, you guys in this forum steered me in the direction of Black Science, East of West, Lazarus, and an awesome run of Batman, so I felt like I should try and reciprocate.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I'll have to check out The Dead.
Anyone reading Umbral? #4 came out last week, and I have to say, I'm really digging this book. I needed a good dark fantasy in my pile, and this fills that need very well. I just reread the whole run so far, and It's great. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but imagine Pan's Labyrinth meets Dark Crystal. Great young female protagonist and very cool mythos.
The art will not be for everyone (it's very emotional - not crisp and clean lines) but i think it complements the story perfectly. I enjoyed #1 enough digitally to add a print copy to my subs, but it didn't blow me away. With each issue, it just gets better and better.
Looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
This was the very first comic ever that I picked up with no recommendations or input from an outside source. I thought the art looked cool in the ads leading up to its release, and the little taglines had me sufficiently interested enough to try it out. I have not been disappointed.

Hey, it's by the creators of Wasteland. I love that series. I just downloaded Umbral #1, and it's right up my alley. Good find!lorddunlow wrote:I'll have to check out The Dead.

I'm very excited. I sent an email to the Umbral letters page. Antony Johnston responded on Twitter that he would be including my letter in an upcoming issue!
This will be my first time being in a comic book!
Umbral is really a great book. Anyone that enjoys a dark fantasy should check it out.

I don't think i've ever laughed out loud this much at any comic book.
And the new Moon Knight is GREAT.

To expand on my comment, it kinda has the tone that I think Quantum & Woody, done right, would have (if we're ruling out Priest returning to the book).Chiclo wrote:That's what she said.kjjohanson wrote:The new She-Hulk is a lot of fun.

You had not read the original Days Of Future Past story before? Its definitely one of the all-time great X-Men stories, and a top fav of mine. Good that it was enjoyable for you - it is fairly self contained.Elveen wrote:I read my X-Men Days of future Past TPB/prestige book. I've never read it before, and I really liked it. That era (late 70's/early 80's) of the X-MEN books is abosolute gold. Protheus, Hellfire Club, DPS, Kitty joining, too much good stuff coming out at the time. Even Dazzler is kinda interesting.grendeljd wrote:You had not read the original Days Of Future Past story before? Its definitely one of the all-time great X-Men stories, and a top fav of mine. Anyone picked up Pretty Deadly from Image? It's been described as a western horror mythology type book so I'm curious about it.

Recent reads:
Stray Bullets TPB's 1-7
I enjoy Stray Bullets with all of its pulpy gritty awesomeness. I like Amy Racecar and Monster.
Daredevil:Born Again (picked up a SWEET 1st print TPB in barely read condition for just $5!)
It was the first time I had read it in years. Holds up very well.
The Surrogates
I really really enjoyed this. So much better than the movie which I actually liked as well. The art was really cool i like how it's colored.
