It's not rebooted at all. It continues on with Milligan where it left off with Jordan, et al. A few things are reinterpreted, but I would not consider it even a soft reboot.

I'd be happy with a full Shadowman reboot. Sadly, it's the only Valiant title so far I've stopped reading.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I'm lobbying for Shadowman 4001

A couple of mini-series exploring the past and future legacy of Shadowman in 2015 is where I would take it for awhile.

I then go back to present day - hopefully refreshed and newly focused on making it as kick *SQUEE* as possible

I'd prefer 1800s Shadowman. Call it Shadowman: Legacy.

I really think VEI allowed Milligan to take a crap on the awesome loa origin story from #10. I really wish VEI and Justin Jordan could have worked it out to keep him on the book. I think he was hitting his stride.

I agree. Put a bullet in this title / character / mythos and take it out of continuity.

Shadowman is the only Valiant Comic that I buy and just put in the box without even opening the first page. It has been that way since issue 11 and is not likely to change because of what I read on this board. If it was given a reboot treatment I would give it another shot at least

I am really surprised to see that I am in the minority in still really loving this title. Yes, the origins in #0 and #10 were amazing. But I also really love issues #13-16, more than Jordan's actual Jack-centric stories in #1-9. Jordan set up a killer mythology, but Milligan has really added to the mythology in an interesting way, and, more importantly, started to make Jack into a real, three-dimensional person. I also love what he's done with Alyssa, Punk Mambo, and the exile loas. I'm legitimately looking forward to finding out what's up with Ghost Train and Mighty *SQUEE*! There's some promise for a legit Shadowman rogues-gallery there!

Trying to avoid spoilers, I think it's safe to say that End Times is pretty freaking bleak, but I view this as the "Empire Strikes Back" chapter in Jack's story; the low point, from which he must climb back up. I hope Valiant will give Milligan a shot at continuing Jack's story.

I think he is just referring to the new creative team and direction starting with #13.

You are short-changing yourself if you don't at least give #13-16 a shot (all found in the Vol. 4 tpb). That has been the best run outside of the origins in #0 and #10, in my opinion.

Agreed about Shadowman: Legacy

I've mentioned this before but I'd love to see a series of mini's exploring the past, present and future of Shadowman with different creative teams for each era and maybe some villain or link or Sandria connected between each story. It could start with Justin Jordan exploring the aftermath of issue #10 - followed by Milligan with a present day story involving aftermath of End Times and Shadowman as Darque's dog and maybe mix Sandria into the present day and explain what's been happening with her all this time ... And then a 4001 storyline that they can just go nuts on. My dream team for 4001 Shadowman - Dysart and RDLT. :cloud9:

But why do I care? He just killed his father out of childish petulant rage(loa induced or not) where he seemed in control. Nothing indicated the loa was nudging him to do so. Josiah was trying to reason with him like an adult and he just wouldn't hear it. Now he's going to what, apprentice under Darque? Yeah, very heroic.
Kinda like Ward on Agents of SHIELD I'm not interested in a redemption arc....just die.

I am interested in a shadowman reboot bring a new shadowman back to new Orleans. Maybe his fathers death creates a new Shadowman? Can Bob Hall come on board. It can not get worse.

This was one title I was waiting for them to bring back i can become great if they do i right.

I thought this was the no spoilers section of the forum? That being said, Jack is clearly about to have mercy and the loa clearly puts him over the edge. And there was plenty of stuff previously in the mini indicating that Jack was no longer in his right mind. Just because he says "it's me, I'm in control now" doesn't mean he is, even if he thinks he is.

Crap.

I just read a few posts on this thread, and I haven't read *any* of End Times yet, 'cos I'm going to the shop on Saturday to pick up the final issue and then I'm going to read all three back to back.

I think I just read some major spoilers, bummer!

I guess I'm going to have to come back to this thread after the weekend, you non spoiler-bar-posting *SQUEE*!

Sorry for misremembering things. I am cool with reading about socyopaths, they dominated/dominate history. It's not like DC did not have the Secret Six, some dark is always fun.

I'd be down with that. At least it would present some danger to the protagonist; you wouldn't be sure if he made it to the end of the storyline because there are other potential Shadowmen ready to inherit the Lao. I think it would be cool to see how they operated in the past; give us more perspective on what the rules are, how things went down. It could present some solid world building as well. Establish some hard rules on how "magic" works in the Valiant universe so that writers can't BS their way out of every situation. Re-focus on all the voodoo stuff that will seperate this title from other supernatural themed monster hunter books.

I'm a fan of Spawn. Been collecting since the begining, and some of my favorite issues were when they showed how different Spawns from other time periods handled the curse.

Hahaha no I still have been collecting the new stuff. Have every issue and have started to collect all the Variants as well. Still haven't read the old stuff. I still patrol the boards but I don't feel like what I would say would add to anything. I was thinking of getting the orginal Quantom and Woody Ominbus however :hm:
