I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
After lots of searching trying to figure out what i have, i kept getting pulled back to this site and seeing lots of people interested in the Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant. I first found http://www.recalledcomics.com/Bloodshot0.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and realized my copy looks identical to the one on the left. I'm going to try and take it to a comic book store to get looked at tomorrow and see if they can confirm.
Little background. I bought it at a small comic book store in my hometown during a going out of business sale about 1998. The cover was shiney and i was just grabbing a few before the place closed for the night. I think i bought it for $0.50. I brought it home, read through it once, put it back in the cardboard backed cover and put it with the rest of my pile. Soon after it went into a cedar chest which i've had for as long as i can remember. I remember a few years later i was talking to some people about it and they said to pitch it because its a #0 and its not worth anything. Regardless, I hung onto it. A few days ago some people at work were talking about comics and it reminded me of this shiny comic book i have in my chest upstairs and a quick google made me think it was worth more than the $0.50 i paid for it.
I can post pictures if anyone can tell me if i need to pursue this. Just tell me what angle or what you want written on a piece of paper to prove its OC. Its in pretty good shape, i dont think it has any scratches or anything and i've only had it out of the cover once or twice when i read it nearly 16 years ago.
I know nothing about comics but i have friends that do. If it is legit, I dont know how to get it certified or the process in which that gets done. If it is, could it really be worth over $1000? is it still that coveted? Any info would be extremely helpful.

Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
Important question: is there a price in the box? Notice the photo on the left in your link does not have one, and the one on the right does.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
Looks like it to me. But then I've never seen one in person.
You should note that there have been claims that this error can be faked, so while it might indeed go for a grand or more, this is the place you're going to be most likely to find a buyer and most people are aware of the potential for fakes. Recommend that you get it professionally graded by CGC (and point out that it is an error variant of the Gold when you submit) if you intend to sell. Modern books only cost $18 or so, so that shouldn't be a huge problem considering the potential return.

Thanks for the info. I'd say near mint? No bent corners or blemishes. All the glares in the picture are on the cover. I'm honestly afraid to open it up at this point just because of its potential. I have no intention on keepin it. I'm not a collector of any sorts and id rather just sell it, make someone happy and get something useful in return.kjjohanson wrote:What condition is it in?

I once knew a woman with a nice cedar chest, until a woodpecker ruined it. She never was quite the same afterwards.

I live in Albuquerque, and I have GOT to track down Walter White to convert my two BS Zero Gold's into beauteous Platinums.
I know that one guy had the formula, down PAT

Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
So i took it to two different local comic book stores and got a very different answer. The first one i went to i had the owner tell me it was a regular chromium version and was worth about $2. I asked about the price not being in the corner and he said that was normal for the regular version and it wasnt a platinum. I was like OK. Then he said, even if it was a platinum, they are only going for about $15 on ebay. Since this seemed so 180 from what i've read on here, i went to another store and they couldnt tell me anything about it. He basically said send it to CGC and they would authenticate and grade it so i could figure out what to do with it. However if it wasnt the real deal i'd be wasting $40 on a $2 comic.
Is there anything else i can look at this to validate its worth investing into?

Re: I think I have a Bloodshot #0 Platinum variant.....
CGC charges $18 to grade a modern comic, not $40. If there is no price in the box, then it's not the normal edition. The scoop on the "Platinum" is that it's the Gold version (which was an incentive giveaway and therefore had no price in the box) on which the gold ink never ran. The Gold could be a $15 book. (Prices vary. It depends on the market when it sells; could be more, could be less.) It's been suggested that it's possible to create a "Platinum" by removal of the gold ink from a "Gold," although it has never been reliably established how. If the details of your story are as you say they are, you'll be best served by submitting it to CGC, especially if you are not an established seller of comics on eBay with excellent feedback, because people will be very cautious about purchasing it without some outside verification and/or seeing it in person. Keep in mind too that the fact that it has sold for $1000 or more in the past doesn't mean it will necessarily go for that again, but a legit copy should fetch a few hundred dollars minimum (if the sales of a recent error variant are any indication). Again, the price depends on the market at the time of the sale.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:So i took it to two different local comic book stores and got a very different answer. It looks real from the pic. CGC will know in ten seconds if it was a fabricated fake. I think it's worth forty bucks to see if it's the real deal.HopefullyBloodshot wrote:So i took it to two different local comic book stores and got a very different answer.
