Are you talking about his 90's X-Factor run with Peter David writing? I remember enjoying those issues a great deal back in the day :thumb:

Alien Legion generally remains my favourite of all his stuff [absolutely love Vol. 2 #5], though as it progressed there were getting to be some pretty silly looking random alien race designs thrown in there that took me out of the book a little.
I hear you. Maybe squads will be segregated a bit more in this series. But Jugger's little friends were amazing.

I liked Tribe at the time. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it now. Back then I was buying more for art than story, now I'm the opposite. I'm sure I'd like the artwork still and as I recall there were a couple of cool characters.

I re-read the On The Edge mini-series to deal with my anticipation of the new mini, and it was pretty much as good as I remember. Definitely not a fan of the set-up at the end of it, as I mentioned in a previous post. Going to re-read Tenants of Hell next, which was the follow-up to OtE.

Here is a good interview with Carl Potts. He talks about the upcoming series towards the end.

I'd like to see a smaller group of Nomad be the focus for this new series, to avoid some of the sillier, non-sensical alien designs. In re-reading the On The Edge mini, I re-discovered the single most ridiculous panel of aliens - there was literally a yellow-ball-happy-face with two big feet in amongst a bunch of other tiny, useless looking critters, and another spindly purple Gumby looking thing with a classic Warner Brothers or Disney cartoon face, wearing basically a black bra for armor. No more of that please! facepalm

My favourite characters, in no particular order & including dead ones;

Jugger Grimrod
Zeerod
Meico
Tamara
Sarigar
Tonk
Dun
Mescad
Durge

I got all 4 of the X-Factor Visionaries: Peter David TPBs and if it weren't for Peter David's wonderful scripts I would have thrown them in the trash because Stroman's so-called art.

Sorry to hear that. I can understand why his artwork would not be for everyone. If you ever do decide to throw them out, just send them my way. :D

Wow, I gave it a listen yesterday - great stuff!! Cool to hear so many stories from Carl Potts career that I had not known about. He seems like a really great man who cared more than most about comics and other people trying to break in to the industry quite a lot. He discovered Jim Lee!! I can't believe Jim Lee was almost too nervous to get his portfolio reviewed for the first time back in the day. Imagine a talent like that not breaking in because he was scared...

And very cool tidbits about the new AL mini - sounds like this is the same one they had started to produce with Dark Horse. Shame to hear that the industry is so tough these days that this project nearly didn't happen. Imagine, Carl Potts paid Larry & Chuck out-of-pocket to make the book happen, & inked it himself to save on expenses. Glad to hear that Stroman & Dixon wanted to do the project out of love for the property, to the point of taking less than industry standard pay just to make it happen. That's the kind of creative energy that makes for great comics, right there. :thumb:

Yes, both Dark Horse AL omnibuses are in color.

One of my favorite covers has to be the one for the first issue of AL I ever bought:

I've always been rather partial to this cover as well:

Back then, I received most of Vol. 2 through the mail via subscription so I love this cover too, as this was the first issue to arrive in my mailbox:

Off topic but that website has some great interviews with guys that have been around (Bob Layton, John Romita Jr., Starlin, Chaykin) for awhile and they share a lot of great stories.

I know, my copy is sitting in my LCS pullbox but I won't be able to go there for another couple weeks. Anticipation builds!

Plus, have you checked out Dark Horse's Sept. solicits? New Grendel mini, Grendel vs.the Shadow with Hunter Rose, written and drawn by Wagner. Nothing else screams Must-Buy like new Wagner art. :thumb:

As far as I can tell, they did. I can log onto my account via their website and check what issues are in my pullbox. They usually don't list issues that aren't in stock so I'm assuming that it's there. :hope:  :D
