Hopefully I can get a group together quick to run some playtesting :D
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

Great review! I might be able to test this out on Saturday as a couple members of our regular gaming group will be absent this week. Just gotta print out the quick start rules and see if the others will give this a shot with me.

My wife saw this thread and got very excited.

Then she realized it was not a PC-based RPG. Her enthusiasm waned greatly.

Tell her she will like it more after we play it on an episode of OTV.

THAT would be AWESOME!

I downloaded the PDF, printed it out, and watched their playthrough videos. Looks like alot of fun. I'll be reading the quick start rules tomorrow at work to figure it out some more and looking forward to the additional supplements coming out over the next couple months leading up to the full rulebook release.

THAT would be an awesome OTV episode, even if it was hours & hours long. :thumb:

I haven't checked into this too closely online - does anyone know if this book will be available as a hard copy rather than just a PDF once the full version is done?

Hardcover in August for $39.99 MSRP. I'll be getting it for sure. Plus all the PDF supplements between now and then to cover the Harbinger Wars characters and events.

I tried the combat system for this game out a little with one of my sons the other day and it played well. We didn't get into any of the role playing per se, but the basic combat mechanics were easy and fast. If I can talk my gaming group into trying it some time, I will.

On the downside, the RPG adventure in this quick start rules carried over the same editorial mistake from the Unity comics - one part says the alien ship dropped into the Pacific ocean and another part says the Atlantic. facepalm

Cool, thanks for the link.

'Catalyst Cue System' sounds a little strange - no single GM? I wonder how that aspect would play out. :hm:

It looks like it flowed fairly well jumping between Lead Narrators in the example videos at the main site where you can download the quick start rules from (first post in this thread). Each person handles one encounter basically and has limited story goals to get the group from A to B and an idea of what obstacles stand in their way. The rest is pretty free-form.

What is the possibility of getting a board RPG group together? I imagine it would be difficult to find enough people in a single location, but there's always Skype/Facetime/etc.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

So, Catalyst has missed their first free PDF release date. 'Harbinger Foundation' add on to the Harbinger Wars adventure was supposed to be out on June 14th per the schedule listed on their site. Hope it comes out soon and they don't get too far behind. :? :hm:

I got a notification from DriveThruRPG that a new PDF module was available, but I haven't looked to see if it is actually there yet.
