#10 was amazing. An instant re-read. I finished it and then instantly started again.

I agree it was a beefy read/look.

This is by far my favorite non-Valiant book; and to be honest it might be my man crush on Joshbert Dy-Ditti that keeps it not #1. If this book goes 60-ish deep, and stays this good, it might be the best series ever.
The end was.... Wow. The opening scene was .... Wow.
This book would make such a great tv show.

This book just has so much weight and ..... And ..... I guess the word is importance on every page.
Great characters great art great story great mood great feel.

I'm trying to figure out what keeps me from being thrilled about this series. It could be that I just haven't read enough of it yet, but I pretty much raced out to get it, knowing I was going to love it.

I'm trying to work it through in my brain, and I might just be over-thinking it, but I think it's a worthy discussion. Part of me wonders if I am struggling because I am such a literal person. The series clearly relies heavily on end times themes, but deviates greatly from the book of Revelation. It seems to use the common understanding of what the end times will be like moreso than scripture and that could be what it is holding me back. This is not a knock on it, just an observation; but I think my mind is not necessarily connecting some of the dots simply because my initial paradigm is different and as I read my own interpretations are preventing me accepting the new framework.

I've been talking about this with my daughter, and we've been having fun with this meta conversation and she suggested I post it on here.

I mean, I really like it. It's just I was certain I was going to go gaga over it based on what you guys have been saying about it, and you've never missed in the past.

Well, dave, the second trade should be out soon. It contains #6 (the best issue to date IMHO) and #10 (which is very nearly just as good - the last two pages are the best two pages in comics in the past 15 years) - if you read Volume 2 and don't like it, then I'm afraid you are quite broken.

Again, I'm not saying that I don't like it. I do like it. I just keep expecting to be blown away. You saying that those two pages are that good set the bar for me, mentally; and I'm hoping that I enjoy it to that same extent.

I might be broken. I understand that. lol

I believe the second tpb comes out this next Wednesday (4/9). I'm looking forward to it, then I'm get individual issues from 11 on.

It helps that I only read the first trade a month ago, maybe two.

I have read issue 10, I think 4 or 5 times now. Last night I re-read it and this is probably my favourite issue so far.I still want to see more of the Endless Nation, though. Dead country was cool, but we need more :P
This book is unlike any other comic I've seen. It REALLY is. The writing and art (and that's got to include the coloring), are a perfect match. Perfect. If this book goes up until 30 issues at least, being this good, it will be a reference comic on the level of Watchmen or Sandman.
I find myself taking so much time with each page, each panel. Panels that in other books would be filleristic (e.g. the panel where Dragotta fills the BOOM with the art, or something like that?!), here are treated with such respect and every splash page is mind blowing (THE TRUE FORM OF CHEVEYO!!!!! for just an example from the last issue)-
This is a beautiful thing to read and look again and again.
I can't reccomend it enough for someone who's still on the fence.

-Woof-

I didn't realize #11 was coming out until I got my Comixology pull list email last night. I'm sooooo excited to see the fallout from the last issue. Death is gonna be mighty ticked.

Also, there's no way there won't be more Rangers, right?

Read 11 already: after the greatness of issue 10, these were hard shoes to fill in.
It was a quick read, and it is definitely what some consider a set-up ish. I liked it, a lot, anyway
And the "*SQUEE*, it's now a tradition.

Still 8/10. My major complaint is that we didn't see Death. Or Crow.

I just stumbled across this, an East of West regular commentary column called This American Death on Multiversity comics website. Looks like the author has written an entry for every issue to date. I haven't read through it all yet, but thought you guys might enjoy it. :thumb:

Finally got a chance to read the issue. Loved it as usually. Not much action, but lots of necessary exposition and positioning. Loved the scenes with the two princes from The Kingdom.

I didn't think it was a quick read at all - took me over 30 minutes. Archibald Chamberlain is quickly becoming my favorite b@stard ever. Very curious to know what's in his box.

I think it might be one of the Oracle's eyes. (I'm pretty sure the other one was the one that was under the Mapmaker's eye patch (from issue #2 or 3)

I'm also very curious to see what develops with Bel Solomon.

I had no problem with the absence of some of the main characters. The first few pages with Xiaolian more than made up for it. I'm pretty sure she'll be going on a campaign of mass slaughter soon :hope:

The POTUS - what a *SQUEE*.

The speeches in this book are just too good. Hickman may be the most quotable writer in comics.

Best. Book. Ever.

I don't ever want it to end.

I'll rephrase it. It felt it was quicker than the 10 first issues, imho.

It was a great read.
