I hear ya! When I won mine years ago I put my max bid at like $350, so I know the feeling. It didn't go that high thankfully. :thumb: I justified it in my mind with the knowledge that I would honestly rather have a certified Shooter signed 9.6 than a plain 9.8. :cloud9:
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Yep, and even though a I have few raw Shooter Valiant books signed I wanted a nice CGC, and I always loved that sweet Lapham cover. =sigh= Being a fan can be such a burden

One of the best things about slabbed Valiant books, in my opinion, is that the green label slabs for unwitnessed signatures are so cheap.

There's no financial incentive to fake a signature on a Valiant book, particularly for regular signatures like Jim Shooter or Bob Layton.
Many Valiant books were signed before CGC existed... and those signatures can never be put in a yellow CGC label. They're green.

As a result, any Valiant book that looks like it was signed by Shooter was most likely signed by Shooter.
Why bother faking a Jim Shooter signature?

Picture a blue label CGC 9.8 Archer & Armstrong #0 Gold... usually a $300 to $400 book, right?

Imagine how much a CGC 9.8 Archer & Armstrong #0 Gold would cost if it was signature series yellow label with Jim Shooter.
$500? $600? More?

Now, imagine how much the exact same book would cost if it was signed before CGC and got a green label CGC 9.8.

Same book, no financial incentive to fake a Jim Shooter signature... so the only difference is the color of the label.

What do you think the price of the CGC 9.8 Archer & Armstrong #0 Gold with a green label would be?

This one cost under $125... shipped.

I have a A&A #0 Gold CGC 9.8, and hold close to the hope that eventually I will run into BWS at a convention, that he will be drunk, and randomly offer to sign the cover at a CGC booth! :p

Convince him to come visit you in that exotic land of yours... then you handle the "get him drunk" part.

Problem solved.

Wait... I guess you'll have to fly a CGC witness in, too.

OK, so the total cost went up a little... but you're still making your dreams happen. :D

Definitely not something I "need", nor have to have, but I've been keeping an eye on it to see where it goes.

Best of luck on it should you decide to slap a bid on it  .

Nope, you don't. And when you do, price-point is generally always in this price-range. Given the all black cover, and what an absolute beyatch it is to garner a 9.8 on (not to mention it's the 1st appearance of Eternal Warrior).

Last copy I saw listed sold last month just shy of four hundo:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOLAR-10-CGC-9- ... _41wt_1432" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well worth it, IMNSHO; well worth it.

That seems about right. I think this book should be worth more than what it sells for, but it appears the market does not agree with me.
