I'd also heard this material wouldn't be collected in the trade, which makes me wonder if it is actually extra story pages or just supplemental material.

Just wondering. I normally wait for the trades but if it's the case where additional story content is available only in that issue and won't be collected anywhere else, I'll certainly pick up the polybagged version.
The solicitation info from Bleeding Cool's article says:
For Valiant’s dedicated pullbox customers, celebrate the launch of VALIANT FIRST with a special expanded edition of RAI #1, featuring more than 15 pages of in-story bonus features and dedicated looks inside the world of 4001 A.D. that won’t be collected for the trade paperback!
I think if the additional pages were straight up more story, they would say so. But "in-story bonus features" doesn't sound to me like interviews or the link. The best analogy for what I think we'll see is what was run at the back of each issue of Watchmen. (In case you never read it, each issue featured excerpts of the original Night Owl's autobiography, or newspaper clippings about the Minutemen, etc.)
Considering that Kindt said Spylock is a spy so good that people think he's fictional, kind of like how people think Sherlock Holmes is real, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some of that fiction in the extra pages. I really hope they release that on digital, because that's how I get my books and I'm fairly certain it'd be an ordeal to get it here.

You better check your facts there - fictional? Who took care of the business with the giant dog that was eating everybody? It wasn't Watson. Don't tell me - I suppose he was fictional too. Maybe there was no giant dog. HAHAHA No no - I think you are playing games with me, young lady.

Ok, that makes sense (and yup, have read Watchmen so know what you mean ;) ).

This looks great both for the art and story. Definitely a strong Bladerunner vibe and Ladronn's work on Hip Flask. It reminds me of Ernie Colon's Unity issues from back in the day. All really good things IMO!

That one dude's outfit reminded me a bit of Magnus - didn't he have sort of "fish scale" look suit at one point? If that makes any sense.

I'm going the TPB route as well and hope I don't miss out on any story.

I have made sure to read none of the preview pages. Though honestly I had to look at the art because I'm such a fan of Crain's. I will be getting multiple issues of each.

I was thinking of Ernie Colon's Magnus issues as well.

It was a little clunky at the beginning, but I think they are building on the anticipation the fans have for this title and using it within the story.

I like it, but I'm not blown away, yet.

Can you get pullbox issues through DCBS? Anybody know?
I sure hope so :hope:
Just checked DCBS and you sure can get the Pullbox Plus version for only $3.24 (and all the other variants)! Also, it looks like you can get the t-shirt of the first Rai cover (on a white t-shirt base if I'm reading it right) for $14-15 depending on size! That would be cool to get my May comics plus a Rai#1 t-shirt all at the same time in early June. Too bad it isn't on a black background shirt though.

New preview for #1. This one though is amazing. It focuses on Rai as in his thoughts and he speaks in these previews as well.

In the preview you can see that the girl is thinking in pink captions/thought bubbles, and if I remember correctly, grandmother talked in pink ''thought'' bubbles in the VH1 Rai. Could this mean that the girl is/will become grandmother?
