Totally agree. I think the Big 2 (especially Marvel) did much more to hurt the industry at that time.StarBrand wrote: I don't know, but Bleedingcool saying Deathmate may have doomed the industry is reaching.

Re: The Return of Deathmate?!?
I wonder if this Liefeld's FU to Jim Lee because he got fired from the New 52 and a FU to Dynamite to VEI? If it is then it's the most pathetic FU in human history.

Turok #1 was 5th in sales the MONTH it was released.MarrowMan wrote:nah 1.4 Trillion copies of Turok #1 had no part in it either.MarkRoseHFX wrote:Totally agree. Feel free to blame Turok #1, but there were 4 books that had more copies printed the same month.

Re: The Return of Deathmate?!?
Actually, as long as Leifeld doesn't actually do anything, some GK/Extreme crossovers could be fun: Magnus/Prophet, Turok/Glory, Solar/Supreme, Spektor/Bloodstrike
The most recent creative teams on those Extreme revivals were actually pretty good: Brandon Graham, Erik Larsen, Tim Sealey, etc.
Of course anything with Dynamite or Rob Leifeld involved is doomed to fall to delays, pouches, poor execution, pouches, bad editing, crappy covers, inconsistency, pouches, lack of feet and eventual cancellation.

You didn't mention pouches enough.BugsySig wrote:Actually, as long as Leifeld doesn't actually do anything, some GK/Extreme crossovers could be fun: Magnus/Prophet, Turok/Glory, Solar/Supreme, Spektor/Bloodstrike

Re: The Return of Deathmate?!?
One would think that since Deathmate is not exactly a fan favorite or a critical accliamed series. Also I don't see a lot of fans of demanding a reprint, and it's not a hard-to-find series. I mean I used to go a store that basically couldn't give away copies of Deathmate black for $1.00, and this was when Gen-13 was the hottest book on the market. Why would anyone want to do a sequal to it beats the hell out of me. But hey if Liefeld and Dynamite want to do it more power to them, as long as they don't expect me to buy it.

Re: The Return of Deathmate?!?
it isn't as if Liefeld ever met an idea he didn't like. That said it wasn't Turok or Dynamite or anything from Marvel or D.C. that doomed the comicbook market in the 90's. Speculative *SQUEE* comicbook shops got greedy, ordered too many books in the hopes of cashing in and got burned.
A bad business practice is a bad business practice.
on topic, it was a really interesting idea back in the 90's. Does anyone care about these characters now?

I told my wife the other day if they announced they discovered Taco Bell put an addictive additive to their food I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I shouldn't like Taco Bell, but it is soooooo good late at night. (and I promise, no cannabis is involved) even when it came out that they could technically call it beef, I said "whatever it is, it's good".

Really at this point anything involving Liefeld tickles my funny bone. I wanna see him draw Torque and Torqhalla.
