For my money the original RAI logo/trade dress, and the original Rai character design were the best. I really didn't care for the subsequent Rai character designs. Then again, I may be biased by the sense of mystery created by not being able to acquire the books when I was 12 years old and desperately wanted them...because they were so freaking expensive!

Oh, and please god don't let them use the "Future Force" moniker at all!

We definitely need him to be based off the original Rai design. White skin with black accents with the Bloodshot circle on his chest. Hopefully, they retain some of the "Grandmother" aspect in the stories, the sentient computerthat runs Japan.

The bigger question I have is why does this need to be set in 4001? With no Magnus in this universe, why go that far out? Will any of the other future characters make it into the new version - like Kazuyo, Rai's ex-wife in the XO Commando armor?

If this 4001 timeline is what we should expect Rai to take place in then your story in that era could follow something like this: Technology is basically dead but the wastelands of Japan calls for a champion. As an unexpecting scavenger stumbles upon a secrete chamber amongst some government ruins, his interference brings the long dormant "grandmother" computer alive which chooses him as her champion.

Or, a better idea might be that the island of Japan is already in orbit functioning completely separate from what has happened on Earth and technology flourishes here. The rest of the story could then easily mimic a lot of the VE1's Rai.

Would love to see them use as much of the original premise as possible. Grandmother, the Nerveweb, Dragon City...all great premises that made Rai unique among other books. I think it would be a real waste not to use them.
