Image Digital Comics
I figured I'd just make a topic since I keep polluting all other threads with my love of the DRM-free digital storefront from Image.
I thought I discovered something cool, but I'm stupid. Nevermind. I'll leave this for my further ramblings on how great Image Digital comics are, though!
Seriously, check it out!

Re: Image Digital Comics
So, I just wanted to discuss the awesome interaction I had with an email I sent to Image recently.
I asked a few questions and pointed out a problem with formatting of the cbz files (double page spreads aren't linked - they show as separate pages). First of all, I received a response from an actual employee 10 minutes (!!) later. He answered some of my questions and gave the "we working on adding this and that, blah, blah we can't say anything that's in development, etc." On a few things. As far as the file problem, he really showed interest in fixing it and even shared that he uses the same tablet as me. He also just discussed said tablet (Nook HD+) a little, mentioning what a great device it was and how he was sad that Barnes and Noble discontinued them. He also discussed which ecomic reader he used and stated they would try to fix the problem.
I truly was shocked as such great customer service. Only VEI has done better in my opinion. I cannot say enough good things about either of these companies.
I find it quite ironic that my first love affair with comics was sparked by some Image comics (a friend gave me some Spawn to read early in its run) which led to me discovering Valiant. After a 20 year hiatus from the world of comics, I was brought back into comics in a big way by Valiant's relaunch which led me to rediscovering the awesomeness of Image!
Between VEI and Image, I am on
as far as comics go.
Now, if only the later issues of Aphrodite IX would drop in price.

Re: Image Digital Comics
Looks like Image is making all of their #1 issues free on their digital storefront. No word on how long they are free, and the site is currently bogged down a little after the announcement so I don't know if it is every #1 issue or just select ones. I do know that Justin Jordan's Dead Body Road is one of them.

I got on and downloaded about 14 of them. Dead Body Road is pretty good, Ten Grand seems really good also. I read Velvet as well. Those are the only ones I have read so far. I will check the others I downloaded shortly. I am starting to like alot of the Image titles as well.

I also enjoyed Dead Body Road. I plan on loading up tonight. I figure I'll get every #1 that I didn't buy during the holiday sale.coachjamie wrote:I got on and downloaded about 14 of them. I am just downloading them in PDF form. I don't know what the other ones are, lol. I tried to download a player the other day for the Unity issues that soemone posted and I have been trying to get rid of a virus ever sense.

I use ComicRack (it's a resource hog, but it's got a lot of bells and whistles). I think Image's site has links to common reader applications. For ComicRack, just go to comicrack.cyolito.com and download the application. No viruses, I promise.coachjamie wrote:I am just downloading them in PDF form. I don't know what the other ones are, lol. the .ePub format is read by most ereaders (except Kindle). If you have a tablet, then you can just load the Nook app on it and read .ePub format.
PDF works too, but the metadata isn't as robust.

Nerdiest thing ever said on this forum that didn't involve Star Wars or Babylon 5.lorddunlow wrote:PDF works too, but the metadata isn't as robust.

I see those words and it looks like Japanese to me, lol. I am not the best when it comes to computers. Don't know much about SW or Babylon 5 either, lol. Oh well.
