Silver Surfer
I don't read much Marvel at all, but I do love Allred. Anyone plan on getting the new Silver Surfer book?

Re: Silver Surfer
I'm not, because I have no interest in the Silver Surfer.

I know my posts have very little relevance 99% of the time, but (seriously) why even bother to make this post? The Noto is clearly interested in it, and is trying to find out if anyone else would like to talk about it.Cyberstrike wrote:I'm not, because I have no interest in the Silver Surfer.
I had not heard about it, but I got a free Marvel calendar at my LCS the other day and the Silver Surfer art looked very Allred. I guess it was. Looked pretty good. I'm definitely a fan of Allred.

Re: Silver Surfer
I am just because back in the day, Silver Surfer was my favourite book, if only for his rogue's gallery. Most of my top favourite characters are Marvel cosmic characters - Thanos, Galactus and Terrax spring to mind.

I may pick this up as I'm currently enjoying GotG. I'd never really read any of the cosmic part of Marvel until Infinity, but I've really enjoyed it all so far.

Re: Silver Surfer
I am uncertain about picking it up or not. For me Allred's art is hit or miss, I think it is suited for some books and characters but not for others. I am just unsure if it will fit a cosmic book. I did read the interview Slott & Allred did with CBR when this book was announced and they mentioned that Allred would be surprising a lot of people with how different his art looked on this type of book so I guess we will see. It is a pretty good article with lots of details about the type of book and their general idea for the direction they are going to take. I'll put the link below in case anyone is interested. I am more excited about the announcement earlier this week about Starlin's OGN starring Thanos.

Love the Surfer but he's been badly mishandled for so long....

Re: Silver Surfer
Allred is hit or miss for me as well. But I did like the fill-in issue he did with Waid on DD, really made DD a graceful figure, almost reminiscent of Wally Wood's portrayal of the character. Since Norrin is a graceful figure as well, I'm hoping Allred would produce similar work here as well. So I was planning on checking out the first issue or two digitally when it's released.

Re: Silver Surfer
I quit reading when he went back to work for Galactus (not sure which issue).I thought he was never going to do that and it messed up Surfers direction.But...I might give it a chance on an impulse buy sometime in the future if Silver Surfer had a good enough storyline.
If I just can't be me ,and the Arrow isn't enough.. then maybe I should be Ra's al Ghul

Re: Silver Surfer
I'm a big fan of Dan Slott, so Silver Surfer definitely interests me. I like the concept of the Doctor and his Companion exploring the cosmos. Allred's art really suits this weird/crazy take on the character, at least in my opinion.
