Your greatest comic book disappointments

Never really got in to Ghost Rider, that glow in the dark cover was pretty rad. That new design is pretty lame. I'm surprised they aren't keeping him on the bike and making him join a biker gang to try to cash in on some of the Sons of Anarchy popularity.

See, Mark Rose gets it... And he's not even a fan.

My GUESS is that Marvel thinks that to attract new readers to Ghost Rider that he shouldn't be on a bike because they think shows like Sons of Anarchy is for old people (ie people who already read their comics) and that younger fans would want a Ghost Rider that rides around in a car Vin Desiel rides in the Fast and Furious films.

That's my guess anyway.

Wolverine, Fantastic Four, and Ms. Marvel are all getting new numbers 1s in February 2014. Those are all titles that had Marvel Now number 1s. That's absolutely absurd.

Yeah, it's stupid and I've really lost interest in many of these books...outside of Hulk and a few select writers I've really scaled back on Marvels recently. But I've replaced my purchasing habits w/VEI and Image books...

I think they are renaming Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel and the new Ms. Marvel is entirely separate.

I've been disappointed that the VEI trade paperbacks and deluxe editions don't have new artwork for the covers. If they can turn out 2nd and 3rd printings of single issues with a different cover by a different artist, how hard would it be to get an original piece of art for the trade? I guess they're getting mileage out of using the same cover again, and maybe honoring the covers...but I just look at them and can't help but yearn for a new Nord or Crain cover or something different to make it pop versus just recycling the cover to X-O # __ or Harbinger #___ or whatever.

1. that most superhero/mainstream comics still don't look and read like they were addressed to matures.
2. that shade the changing man never got completely collected
3. that we never got that wild creativity from the mid80s-early 90s back (watchmen/dkr, vertigo, valiant...). even if the actual market is probably the best we got since said era.
4. that non-genre indie comics have almost vanished in floppies-format
5. that no new publisher is trying to do a new, cohesive universe NOT based on superheroes. or if, then some really more realistic/mature stuff in the vein of millar or ennis (but with less cynicism).
6. myself. like in: still not seriously started any comics-related project by now (being a screenwriter and director)

DC has never collected the following series: The Atlantis Chonicles and Young Justice and all of Peter David's 80+ issue run of Supergirl (which is IMHO the GREATEST series DC has ever published) and his run on Aquaman where he made Aquaman cooler than Batman.
