It was different, couldnt say I liked it or disliked it.The story was good as was the cover (crain regular)I still would have bought the issue just for that.
If I just can't be me ,and the Arrow isn't enough.. then maybe I should be Ra's al Ghul

It reminded me of a sketchbook on each page..if that makes sense.

I liked it. I thought Nord's pencils really shined in this format. Could use more color but the facial expressions were amazing.

I'm with you.
Giving Nord both pencil and color duties sacrificed a lot of detail and made the whole book feel a bit rushed.

Welcome to the board! I actually loved the art in this book.conspiracycamel wrote:I'm with you.

So, conspiracycamel. Does that mean you hold onto conspiracies for later, or you just happen to be a camel that has lots of conspiracy theories?

I think there's one thing we can all agree on... this style has been polarizing. Folks seem to love it or hate it.
I'm on the love it side.

Re: XO Manowar #19 art
I'm sincerely surprised the reaction is generally so extreme... I love it & think its fantastic that Cary was allowed to experiment with his style in this manner. But, I'm a bit biased because I'm an artist that often uses markers in my drawing style. I have deep respect for the skill required to pull it off to the degree Cary has done.Carson wrote:I think there's one thing we can all agree on... this style has been polarizing. Me too! I've been a big fan of this style since I picked up these two commissions last year.grendeljd wrote:I'm sincerely surprised the reaction is generally so extreme... I obviously don't mind the white, heck, I matted and framed em in white to complete the look.
Different strokes I guess.

I've been a Duke fan since childhood, and this past January I started working for em... so although likely correct, my answer is more than a little biased: LETS GO DUKE!!!bribri wrote:Yeah, but who's going to win the ACC this year?!?Carson wrote:Me too! Seriously though, don't know if you've been keeping up with college football, but #20 Duke is 10-2 and facing the #1 Seminoles tonight in the ACC Championship game! Crazy to see them winning in football.
Regardless of the doubtful outcome tonight, they've had a magical season.

I think this issue was one of the best looking issues Valiant has put out yet. I absolutely would love for Nord to continue using this style. I loved it. So different from anything I've seen before.

I absolutely loved the art. Definitely my favorite Nord art so far. Its different, but thats a good thing imo. I feel like it had an organic and weighted feel to it. Would love if every issue could be like this.

Those are some killer commissions!! Love the first in particular, with both versions of Aric.missjay wrote:ah! I remember these commish.. I forgot who got themCarson wrote:Me too! I didnt mind the art as much as I expected to, after reading the previews post I was bracing myself to Hate it. But I really didn't mind it. The story, being a Unity tie in - nothing-happens issue was fine too. Ninjak and Aric talked (really looking forward to seeing more Ninjak in Unity or his own series).

Re: XO Manowar #19 art
I love how his art and style continues to grow. I may be in the minority but I loved the coloring. Sure it was light in tone but I find it refreshing and new. Would love to see him do some covers for the other titles. I want to see his take and coloring on Shadowman, A&A, and the Renegades.
