In Canada.
I highly doubt that.

That is a terrific commission.

I have a question though. NC Comicon is coming up in Nov and Cary Nord is scheduled as a guest (along with Dino, Atom!, Asmus, Van Lente) and was considering asking Nord for a commission piece on my own HW flipbook. Since I've never really done anything like that before, would it be better to ask him about such a piece before the con or ask him the weekend of the con? I don't know the proper etiquette! :?

Wish ya'll wouldn't call these pieces sketches, A sketch is an idea on paper. This is a completed idea a piece of art a drawing a painting whatever but no sketch.

Well I titled it "Harbinger Wars Sketch Cover" because that's what the book is called. I could have called it a flipbook, I guess. I made sure to call it a commission throughout the thread, as it definitely is not a sketch.

It's the most awesome comic item I've ever owned.

Fantastic painting, sir! Great commission.

You asked about storing it - do you want to frame & hang it up? If so, get some high quality UV protected glass. It'll be expensive, but that will allow you to keep it on your wall without worrying about sun damage.

Dunlow, I have decided to spare you the effort of hunting down that Harby #1 Gold you will soon owe me.

Just send this little sketchbook doodle and we'll call it even.

Any idea of a good place to get a frame with said UV properties?

Hang it in the man cave there is no natural light there :)

I recently framed up some of my wife's original paintings at Michaels - they were reasonably priced when on sale. Though I must say I have a serious hate on for Michaels here in Canada usually. They like to charge Canadian prices as if our dollar was still worth around $0.60US, and then put things on sale for 40% off as if its a big savings... They even went as far as re-designing their price-tags so that they could tear the American prices off easily (a perforated tab!), to cover up what they're doing. Sadly, it seems to fool most people up here...

Getting stuff framed is usually crazy expensive. Three years ago I commissioned a Craigslist artist to do a painting of our house. She was an art student in Manhattan, the painting (watercolor) came out very nice and only cost $200.

Having it framed at AC Moore? $400. :?

$200, but it was worth every penny. I love that he signs over his fingerprint on his commissions. That's better than any CGC witness!
Lord - that is an epic sketchbook cover. best I've seen I think! So jealous. I could not find your original thread - what was the story behind you getting this? Contact him at a show. How long did it take? Need details!!

He was at a con and I grabbed him first thing on the first day. Told him what I wanted and voila!
Here is my con report.

I need to stop looking at all the commissions everyone gets before I become even more broke. My wallet is already in pain from CGC purchases...on the positive side it's so light!
