Just a suggestion, but as getting a VCVSS is a privilege, I'd include some kind of compromise from the lucky owners not to sell them in, say a year or so, with a penalty of not being eligible for the next one if they do. This way you're rewarding the "legal good" owners who like to get these cuties for keeps. I insist, it's only a suggestion.

I think that folks say that noobs are going to flip their vcvss books, because no regular has ever done it...Mine are not for sale, nor are greg's, knight's, zeph's, or any of the other regulars...of the few we have seen sold most have been from noobs...then you see something like this...you cant expect that it would go over well...oh well..looks like it isnt for sale anymore...sorry to hear about your situation, but this isnt the way to do it...

I was going to offer a trade for $150 worth of comics I have for sale on my lists, but that doesn't solve dickys money problems.

I bet the book shows up on ebay by next week...

sucks, but I will go ahead and say it...it is his book and he can do as he likes with it...we dont have to like it but he could sell it...atleast he waited until after the charity auctions were over...

I cant think of anything in my life that $175 could fix...hell I have credit cards and that is what they are for. It is the american way to have debt...I have it..slowly trying to pay it down, but I still have it...hell I have 7 credit cards right now...some have zero balances, but I have them...

and I will put my hard luck stories up against most folks...cant life change you...

be true to yourself and you will never fall...

A VcVSS would be sweet since I don't own one yet, but personally I was always pretty happy meeting the great artists at the comic book cons. This was a chance to actually get to talk to them and have them sign my books. Some of my favorites were Howard Simpson (thanks for the Magnus #21 Gold- I gave you the bloodshot action figure in Pittsburgh), Scott Lobdell, and Mike Zeck. Funny thing is, the only reason people usually care about a certificate is because they plan to sell the book one day. It's a lot cheaper to meet the comic legends at the conventions. Just my opinion.

...it is a token of membership...
...And as such, it should be awarded to those deserving. Hence my proposition of "I won't sell for a year" for VCVSS owners with the "you're out" penalty. Opinions?

Not a bad idea, but let's include tracking down the offender, beating him to a pulp, & burning his comic collection...too harsh? Opinions?:D

Good point , but I'm not Greg or Zeph or Knight. I'm a Newb. I'm one of the people who found this community of Valiant fans (later than most, sure) who enjoyed the discussions and tried to contribute when I could. Sure I don't have 5000 posts, I have 100+ (and the majority aren't " :thumb: " posts).
These VcVss books have a value, but the big part of that is that these are perceived as badges of honor. The biggest problem I see is that everyone is trying to figure out how to keep these out of the hands of Newbs without making it seem unfair.

why dont you just put these books together and give them to people who have been here the longest, then when people start to die off or lose access to a computer, you can elect someone to be eligible to be given the privilege to buy one. There can be a sign on the front page-

"welcome to Valiantcomics.com.....maybe someday you'll be worthy!"

So now I have a book with little value to myself, but with great value here. So instead of selling it to someone who really , really wants it......I will keep it. How that makes people happy, I dont know.

and as far as the money goes, I'm going to need a lot of it. I didnt want to post on here with a sob story, I said $175 will take it right away and asked for people to bid. I got 1 bid and a ton of complaints. Lesson learned......I bought a book that I cant sell.

and finally......I'm selling off I'd say 95% of my personal collection (the majority in bulk) so this is only a small part of it. I dont want to......I have to. I guess my mistake was offering it here.

I appreciate the kind words from some members here (Chris and Greg to name a few.....KC collectibles rocks :thumb: ) and enjoyed my time here, Its a great tribute to some great books.

Good luck to everyone in the future and hopefully We'll all be reading new Valiants soon.

bye

You can lose the 'Tude, dude....I don't see why you feel the need to banish yourself....what did you expect when you paid $25, & you say $175 will take it.....ruffle some feathers? YOU BET!

Listen, wise up, you selling off all your stuff isn't going to save you OR your Grandfather. Look into some Government programs for Seniors. Don't be ignorant of the helping hands that ARE in place for Seniors in the situation that your Grandpa is in.

You are doing a great thing by helping your Grandpa, & I think you should be commended for it, just don't let financial solutions pass you by because of ignorance of Senior Citizen programs.

Meanwhile, my offer of $150 in trade still stands. I have tons of good books for 50% of their values, including a super list of Spider-Man books. Maybe we can trade, & you can make more money off of what I give you back....PLUS you'd be letting a Valiant fan (me) finally get a Shadowman #8 (which Craig should have done anyway! :!:)

Just PM me. No hard feelings....OK?---Steve

Selling this book on ebay wouldn't go for much if the board boycotted it...but then how would the creator feel if it sold to some dealer for $20?

honestly dont think that I could add much else...wow...

I hoestly dont understand the attitude of some people that think that just because they choose to speak up their voice matters as much as everyone else. It doesnt. Have some of you folks never heard of hazing? Most groups do it...once you are "in" then you get to haze the new guy, then all members are bound by those same memories...

... and with conducts like yours, you're giving them a reason.

Your mistake. If you never cared about this book, you should have never even tried to opt for it, moved on and let someone who perceived the real essence of the VCVSS get it FOR A FAIR PRICE, and not 175$. Dud, you're revealing yourself with your own words. Your intentions show off and they're wrong. No matter the background, it's a wrong sale that probably you'd have done sooner or later. Shame on you.

All this specially pss me off since I'm a "noob" with a real interest in this community and behaviours like yours only makes the veterans get overprotective with something as valiantfans which, in my opinion, gets its power and rightness from being an open-minded, outgoing place. Dude, you're one of the snakes in Paradise.
