No it's not. You're at $399.99, so stop trying to throw the numbers off.

$400 + $10 shipping follows the current market trend. I'd rather have that then to be below market.

I totally agree!

One of the sellers on the Collectors Society Forum just got back five Harbinger 1 CGC 9.8s, which he wants $499.99 each (let's call it $500). I don't see those selling yet at that price.

I saw that too. He was being a little optimistic on most of the books he had for sale.

That's John/SOT common practice, though seems to be a decent guy.

1) Price books above market, and state there will be no discounting.

2) 1-2 hours later, offer a 10% discount.

3) A few days later, post that he is open to offers, which usually must be around 10%-15% of ask price, but you cover the Paypal fees.

Yep, saw it, too. Completely agree about his pricing.

Even so, he sure had one sweet batch of books for sale.

I saw that. He sold it by PM and had stated that he would accept best offers so I wonder what he actually sold it for?

Not sure if the 5 from the CGC board are from recent subs or hoard from years ago.

John subbed those a few years ago. There aren't that many more out there. We will continue to see a trickle of growth in the census, much of which could be due changing grading standards. Having 100ish 9.8s on a 1992 book that have sold for over $400 for, what, 5 years now? It's nothing.

Not sure if this is 100% accurate... Regarding the the A&A #0 Gold, didn't someone found a 10 pack hidden.. which were subbed and came back 9.8's and 9.6's and it added almost half of the census of 9.8's withing a year go. I totally forgot exactly when.. Now there's 28 graded and the Price guide is $275. Not to long ago these were at $400 each.

Its a small number that continues to grow.

I really believe this will likely be a $200-250 book in a few years if Valiant keeps it the good work. Harbinger 1 is the one book EVERYONE wanted for a while there in the 90's. People bought them up and put them in mylars and triple bagged and boarded them and stuff like that.

It will continue to trickle out get 9.8's and the price will continue to come down slightly more and more. That is unless there is ever a hit movie made. :kidaround:

I don't think we'll see this become a $200-$250 book again (I could be wrong though). This book has been at least a several hundred dollar book for years now. It is not as if this is or ever was a cheap book in 9.8. The current price has driven people to slab this boom in hopes of making money on it. Will more trickle out? Yes, but not enough to drop the price in half.

The A&A #0 gold is a different story since there were so few on the census and the demand for the book is much less. This does not apply to Harbinger #1.

The book has averaged sales above $400 for some time now. I would think there are a number of copies of this book ungraded in 9.8 condition, but I imagine that continued interest in Harbinger will bring in new readers, as well as existing readers, who will want the holy grail of a Valiant collection.

Most new readers I meet these days aren't too keen on paying $400 for a book. :? I really think the only chance this book will stay high is if there's a movie, and or or it actually drops to $300 and people start to decide NOT to sell copies. The book picked up in raw and every grade on the relaunch.. and has been fizzling ever since. Raws were at $70 I think, 9.6s $150. With almost 200 in the census. 9.8 was $500, A year later we are at 45,110 and 400 and the census continues to grow. They are selling, but supply seems to be beginning to keep up with demand now more and more. I think "normal" new fans won't be willing to pay the premium old school fans are.

I don't think the book will go up or down much. It might oscillate around $400, but I don't think the book will do much more. The exception (as I've said all along) is a blanket increase across all books. To me, there's so many books that take precedence over a 9.8 Harby 1. If it dropped significantly I might scoop one up, but I really doubt it will go much lower than the $375 level or so it bottomed at.
