$225 is a lot of money (if it is priced the same as the zombie ones)
The zombie $225 is a single body. This is a double according to the sketch, so $225 might be (far) too low if you're planning ahead.

It looks incredible. I just never know how much I can justify spending on such things. What I'd pay through the nose for would be a Harby statue with Toyo throwing things around (as in #0 covers etc.)

Would look incredible if you could piece it together...

As long as it's not going to be priced at like $300 or something than I could see myself getting this, I do think $130-$150 would be my cut-off price though. Still, I bet it will look really sweet and I can't wait to see one in person.

Well it's such high end that 100-150 pieces would be the most I'm guessing.

Oh my god, they asked if I wanted articulated and I said no, I'll just display it on my shelf, no need for articulation. And here it is!

Well, I guess i'm obligated to buy one now, no matter the cost...

I'm not sure where I would fall on these if they are high end statues. I like the Valiant universe, but I don't know that I like any of the characters so much that I'd feel the need to own a $300 statue of them. $15 figures? Sure. I mean I absolutely love some of the statues made for Star Wars characters, and I still won't drop the money required to own any of them.

Looking at Quarantines website, $300 looks like average cost of one of their statues. It also looks like they are into the variations, bronze, faux bronze and unpainted.
The stuff they produce is beautiful, but I can't justify spending that kind of money.

If the size is around 1:6 scale (which it looks like it is) with possibly 2 figures then $250 to $300 would be a fair price . . . that seems like a lot to people that don't regularly collect statues but that is the going rate. It's not for everyone, but we are a passionate lot . . lol

Look at the aftermarket prices for the Street Fighter statues . . and the Star Wars statues . . Most would kill to be able to get them at the $300 retail price . . lol

Sideshow 1:4 scale statues now cost $350 to $400 new and can fetch double to triple that on ebay when they sell out. Depending on the popularity and quality of the statue.

The market for high end collectibles is there . . and if pulled off well, might even bring in some new readers. Sideshow has promoted Quarantine statues before and sold them on their site. Hopefully this continues with Valiant and will bring even more exposure.

I can't wait to see how this comes out. Also sideshow offers a flex pay feature so you can make lower monthly payments before the statue is released. They have at least 1 sale here . . . maybe 2 . . :)

This is how most people feel . . . but you don't need a lot of people . . .

Darth Talon cost $289 when she came out with an ES of 650 for the exclusive and an ES of 1500 for the regular (Ex came with a cape) . . Ex's sell for about $1500 and the reg's sell for close to $1000 . . . so I am just saying that the market is there (not comparing SW to Valiant)

Here is a Conan statue:

Image

It has an edition size of 110 total . . . so they only need 110 fans of Conan willing to buy it to sell out . . .

I imagine the runs of Valiant statues will be a similar size . . hopefully they will also make an exclusive version with a more limited run that comes with an extra (like an art print or a small sculpture of the XO suit in a ball that can be displayed with it . . lol )

No way it's $150 at this scale . . . here is a McFarlane statue that was made for The Walking Dead (about the same scale)

Image

It was $300 but it also had an edition size of 1500 pieces . . . with only 150 to 250 being made (I am assuming) I just don't think these could be made at that price point.

$300 :hm:

I think we have to remember, that when we started collecting we where young. We still remember prices as they where, and everything is expensive .

For batch production even for 1500 pieces, marketing additional signatures, painting etc etc. Profit for both company and walking dead royalties. Packaging, shop profit, it comes out quite reasonable.

And no I am not a fan of walking dead.

As for xo, 250 ? Per Piece. Their is not profit for valiant in this, unless they sell it for 500. This where it is obvious fans brought the company.

Think of a car that has only 250 made in today's environment. It is worth alot, because it costs alot to make 250 cars. The same design goes into a car that sells 10 000 units or 100 000 units. The small batch mostly hand assembled - the other by machines. You get what you pay for.

Hope you do not think I am attacking people with this comment, just trying to put it in perspective.
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Man, $225 looks like a low estimate. Those only have one figure. The X-O statue is gonna have 2!

I think I'm gonna start putting money back now, in the hopes that by the time it actually hits, I'll be able to pay for it. I do this partially because this statue is a thing that I want, and partially because I want to support every single thing that Valiant is doing right now.

Sign me up. I own the storm shadow and snake eyes statues from Sideshow and those are worth every penny.
