Ninjak Masters collection

Post by dornwolf »

Hey guys I'm just wondering if the Ninjak collection was ever released and if anyone bought it. Just wondering how it stacks up against the Bloodshot release.

I bought one, but haven't opened it yet. Waiting to get a second copy. My main interest in Bloodshot was the new stuff, and Ninjak only had art. No new story.

I bought it. I've never read some of the issues so it's been a bit of a treat in that regard. The book itself (physically) is fine and seems to be made of the same stuff as the Bloodshot.

I'll say this about the issues in general, though... the art is a bit much at times.

Yups, mine came in the mail today. Nice to reread some old favs without unbagging old issues. A new story added would have been nice though. *HINT, HINT* < the Valiant powers that be...

The book's a nice collection, but count me in as one who would have liked to see a new story from a classic team. It's just easier to shell out $25 or so when there's that little bit extra in there. Hopefully Valiant changes their mind about this and starts doing new short stories in the collections as well.

If you are paying full price for these, I'm sorry. I have bought both so far for almost half price through DCBS. I can't rationalize paying $25 for Ninjak or Bloodshot issues I could buy for less than $1 a piece, but I'll pay $12-15 for a nicely bound edition with extras.

I wonder if it's still too early to share the little tidbit of info I got out of a recent exchange with Dino…

Thanks guys, I had been wondering as I haven't seen it at either of my two stores where I live and after reading several thoughts on the Bloodshot trade I had been wondering. I'll probably still buy it the plus of a new story doesn't entice me that much as I've never read most of the OG stuff so it's not a draw.

Started reading through it last night. It's been a long time since I read the originals and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. The art is great, if over the top at times, and the story is actually pretty good in its James Bondishness.

I'm not, but just quoted the price to make a point. It's easier to pay that little extra to get a new story as opposed to straight reprints or even just pages of reproduced original art.

Is it me, or did the Ninjak VM HC come out not sealed at all? I've tried looking at three other LCS in the area, and each of them came unsealed. I noticed that all the others did like the latest Bloodshot and the previous years' A&A, X-O and Harby HCs.

Ran across this, from 2005 - Bob Layton's thoughts on Ninjak and working with Joe Quesada. Not exactly a story with rainbows and unicorns, but I love reading about the history of VALIANT characters.

+1 - would have been very cool to check out. Interesting read, even still. First Valiant book to not ship on time... A dubious distinction.

That really stuck with me, I remember preordering that book, and when it was late it was extremely disappointing.
The buildup was so big, that the delay killed the book for me. Thanks, Joe Quesada. :!:
