What current painted comics are available?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

What current painted comics are available?

Post by Phantom.. »

Very sick last night ~ nothing to do with New Years Celebration, for those that don't know me.

Was sitting in a dark room thinking about 'Books of Magic' mini series, Moonshadow hardvoer and also 'The mystery play' hardcover.

Wondering about currrent comic books that are painted. I love the painted covers of criminal and hellbalzer and was wondering if full comic books where still being released this way (outside 2000ad as not all stories are).

Anyone know of a current series that is painted? or recommend a previous series that had a run that was painted?

nb Already have kingdom come and marvels.

Alot of people are more knowledgeable about comics than I. Only recently did I find out that some pages are completely digital art. I know their are alot of factors that effect the pricing of comic page art. But for arguements sake are two similar pages, from same artist ~ are the painted pieces worth more? ? I assume they are worth more ~ but don't assume anything.

The 2nd Aliens miniseries from Dark Horse, which I believe was collected under Asylum, features painted art from D.Beauvais. Star Wars: Dark Empire, (1st and 2nd series) also feature painted art by Cam Kennedy.

Fables sometimes does painted work, but not usually. The covers always are.

There's really not a lot. I'd almost say Staples work on Saga qualifies, but not quite, though it approaches the look at times. I know that some of the Star Trek and Doctor Who books have some painted work, even though much of it is sub-par.

Here's a good example of the scenario you describe: http://catskillcomics.com/David%20Michael%20Beck.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Painted clearly looks to be worth more, and the amount of detail and size are the next most important factors.

In reality, the most important factor may simply be the artist's time.

Yeah, I guess so, never really thought about much anyway if I liked the artist in general then if they do ocassional painted works then I like it.
The list was just off the top of my head.
Most are books that I have or had in my collection over the years, except for the last one The History of Painted Comics which I don't have and didn't order due to a lack of money, but from I what read about it you should really check it out. I probably have or had more but don't remember them. Also I got so many books with painted covers and dust jackets it's easy to forget if the book is actually has painted art interiors or just cover/dust jacket like JLA: League of One a GN with a beautiful dust jacket painting of Wonder Woman fighting a dragon.

Here some more that I can't believe that I forgot about. :!:
The Paul Dini/Alex Ross Treasury series:
Superman: Peace on Earth
Batman: War on Crime
Shazam: Power of Hope
Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth
JLA: Secret Origins
JLA: Liberty and Justice
Batwoman: Elegy TPB
Batwoman #0-5, #12, New 52 #0, #13-16

There was quite a bit of the IDW Fallen Angel run that was painted, including the Fallen Angel/Illyria crossover.

Best Aliens series ever. And best sequel to the first 2 movies too.

Maybe getting electric mini series throughout eBay - if cheap enough.
