Re: Saga
Sometimes a book can push the boundaries, for example, The Walking Dead, when I first read it, it was at times the most shocking thing I'd had read since Preacher in the 90s. Saga is somewhere in between that, but has remained for the most part, tasteful and eloquent. I'm glad you reconsidered, I think it will continue to push boundaries, which is why I'll be in for the long haul. I hope it goes 1000 issues.Helios wrote:Yeah, I just guess I had an expectation of what I thought it would be given the great word of mouth and it just didn't quite live up. I have , however reconsidered dropping it as I have come to the realization that even though its not the book I want it to be , it still really is one of the best written titles on the stands. So I'm on board the Saga train for a while longer it seems.

Re: Saga
This is one at the very top of my pull list. The art is simply brilliant but the story is better.
I too hope is goes for 1000 issues....assuming I can still see by then!

Re: Saga
The comment from bkv was that he hopes for it to go longer than y and ex machinations combined. That would be great. I wouldn't mind reading this forever.

I hope it's a hell of a lot cheaper that $6m! I may need to sell my comics to afford it...MarrowMan wrote:Technology will make you strong, just like it did for Steve AustinMikey Anni-Padda wrote:This is one at the very top of my pull list. The art is simply brilliant but the story is better.

Let's get this back on track. #5 upped the ante! The Will needs to extract some revenge on Mama Sun! Marko finally uses the sword and stops being a wimp.

Re: Saga
I read the 1st issue, thought it was cool and with some endearing moments, but nothing to keep me on my toes for the next ones. That said, that is a beautiful looking book. The main female character is original and just gorgeously drawn.
If i came a a cross a borrowed copy, i'll try it.

Re: Saga
I enjoy Saga.
It has:
An interesting universe and setting.
Great characters.
Beautiful artwork.
Hysterical dialoge.
Address with real world problems without being too preachy.
Great letter pages which alone are worth reading.

One guess is as good as another at this point. If I were IMAGE, I'd wait until a year or so had passed and then start bringing out the trades.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Any indication on when they'll put out the first TPB?

Re: Saga
Yea, there's a hiatus month (October or November) with no regular issue, but the TPB is being released that month.
This post has been carefully constructed so as to add absolutely nothing to any discussion or topic.

The Saga TPB was solicited in August so it should ship in October.dbngaa wrote:Yea, there's a hiatus month (October or November) with no regular issue, but the TPB is being released that month.

Re: Saga
Really enjoyed the TPB.
Has a similar feel to Moonshadow, and that's high praise, IMO.

Re: Saga
LCS loves it. Punk Rock Jesus is his fave, Saga second. So far, I am buying all Valiant, Before Watchmen, Punk Rock Jesus, and Saga. All great reads.

I picked up the first Saga TPB last week and it's awesome. I love pretty much anything BKV. I also met Fiona Staples once at my LCS and she seems pretty cool

Re: Saga
The owner of Strange Adventures is a HUGE supporter of Canadian talent. He brought her out for a signing. I feel like a dumbass though bc when I met her I had no sweet clue anything about Saga. I was in the store buying some Valiant books and I was just talking to her lol. It was back in May and I was just getting really back into comics again. They were even giving out free prints for the first 50 people.MarrowMan wrote:You met Fiona way out there? WTF was she doing in NS? Weird! He also has a good relationship with Darwyn Cooke, Steve McNiven and Nick Bradshaw i've met them a few times.
