Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
So, I'm starting to listen to the podcast. I'm very completist/completionist/whatever about blogs, forums, podcasts, etc., so I'm sure I'll catch up on all 82 episodes, but I picked #73 at random to start with and work my way up to the current ones for right now.
I love the discussion, but I'm already offended at the Babylon 5 bashing. I'm sure I'm about to lose the respect of half (or more) of the members on the board, but I love Babylon 5. So, if this trend of bashing a great show continues, no more OTV podcast for me. And you can consider yourself unfollowed on Twitter as well!
(above sentiments are me mostly joking)
A little aside: So far only Babylon 5 and Dr. Who have gotten time travel writing locked up with no inconsistencies as far as I can tell - none of this alternate reality crap to tidy up poor continuity. Any others shows that "do it right"?

Was I pro- or con-Babylon 5? I can go either way depending on mood and context. Except for Season 5, I am always con-Babylon Season 5. They even ruined something so good as some guy punching Byron in the face.lorddunlow wrote:So, I'm starting to listen to the podcast. I don't remember who it was, but they said Babylon 5 is a hot button topic for the podcast and that it is horrible - I guess it was Jonesy.Chiclo wrote:

Then you need to. It's a great show, although I agree with Chiclo that Season 5 is very cringe inducing aside from the last few episodes (which were written as the conclusion of the series long before the rest of Season 5). I blame TNT. I seriously followed this show religiously from the very first airing of the pilot movie - years before the show actually began. I finally talked my wife into watching the entire run with me and she actually enjoyed it. She teaches political science and she said that the way things play out in the show is the most realistic she's seen in a sci fi show.Elveen wrote:

Sorry about derailing the podcast thread - blame Jonesy.

You're trying to see if any of your listeners are as big of nerd as you, right?

You want someone to incriminate themselves as ultra-nerd, don't you?

Fine, I'll do it.

Your backwards alphabet recital at the 6:20 mark had at least one error... that you put in on purpose to test us.

Sadly, it stood out like a sore thumb to me... which must mean that I'm the über-dork you're trying to identify.

LMN or NML was hard to hear... but "HIG" was clear (and clearly wrong).

I only say that Babylon 5 isn't very good because I watched a whole bunch of episodes and was bored by how non-good they were

Aha! It was you! Now I know who to destroy.

Seriously, you don't like Kosh? I guess Season 1 is a little slow (but good and necessary) and as Chiclo pointed out Season 5 is difficult to sit through, but overall one of my favorite shows. Oh well, to each his own - even if you're wrong.

Great podcast though. I'm really enjoying it. It's taking me a little while to recognize voices as I listen. I really can only pick out Chiclo so far, but I think that's more related to the quality of his audio when he talks than his actual voice. I'm starting to pick out Elveen a little, but sometimes I still get confused about who is talking. I'm only on 75 right now, but I'll catch up eventually.

I watched all of the first season, it was not that great. Chiclo said it gets much better with seasons 2-4, so I stuck with it and watched some of Season 2. I didn't notice any remarkable improvements.lorddunlow wrote:Aha! It was you! Now I know who to destroy.![]()

Another great episode! I honestly enjoyed listening to the OTV podcast more than reading some of the newest issues.
Just listening to the discussions and questions about the books makes the stories more enjoyable.
Elveen! I enjoyed the topics you brought up. Taking notes was brilliant.
Keep up the great work guys!
