Re: Bloodshot and the mystery of the 2 chickens.
I really don't see how they look the same or similar. We got one panel of the "Middle East chick" and I'd lean more towards "artist draws similar facial structure" than "they are the same chick".
enjoyed the listen, even the physics that went so far over my head I felt that it was in danger of achieving orbit.
Finally, one of my enjoyments of the original universe was the "subtle" inter-connectivity. Shadowman #1, Lydia is going to kill Jack Boniface but gets distracted by something outside of her room, below her balcony out on the streets of New Orleans and she runs out of the room, leaving Jack alive. It isn't ever mentioned again, but for anyone picking up all the issues you knew that it was due to X-O fighting the Renegades from Harbinger. Jack Boniface is shown playing on stage while Aric and Toyo are meeting in New Orleans in X-O Manowar #4.
It's those little easter eggs that are easy to fit into a script and give the readers an extra incentive (besides the plethora of variant covers) to pick up all the Valiant titles that Voyager did so well.

What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

I'm surprised in the discussion of Shoney's restaurant, Chiclo didn't mention "Big Boy" from Austin Powers.

It does sound dirty.... but AH-VAJ-IS is how it reads in my mind. Not sure what that says about me.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Just started to listen to the new episode. Whoa, I can't believe how you guys are beating up on Bloodshot. I guess I need to re-read it, but I think you all are over-analyzing it a bit too much instead of enjoying the ride.
I didn't think it was that tough to follow at all. I guess I'll have to read them all again to see.
Elveen Everybody, get better soon!
Whoa. Chiclo needs a geek mute button. Or show notes marking where we can skip past.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
The page where Aric is shaving, and remebers his Deidre, that whole dialogue, and SPECIALLY, that last panel where we see Aric at his most vulnerable since the series started. His expression is so sad, I could really feel is loneliness. That´s a moment that could only be portrayed in comics. The "New Guy" on pencils really nailed it here. Superb.
People that found this book a bit decompressed?, probably didn't get the emotional resonance of this simple page. If the comic stopped right there, I would have no problem. I was that powerful to me.
The simplicity of those pencils, the magnificent, yet subtile work of the inks, and the change in (beautiful) colors, light and tones make this one of the 2 best issues from VALIANT so far. Oh, and "Mr. Cool Assassin" NINJAK felt like a Bonus, a great bonus, btw.
I loved all of 'em VEI books, every single one , but Just like Harbinger #2, this was a step above.

Now now, don't take that quote out of context. Ninjak was sneaking up on XO and I believe that Doc 1st said that quote. I was just commenting that I like how Ninjak was sneaking up on Aric. Simple as that.greg wrote:"Nothing wrong with spreading the bushes." -Elveen

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Someone should totally do a written commentary track to our commentary track. That would be so meta.
