Hunt for Valiant Black

Post by pixierosa »

Bleeding Cool has a nice little article about the Valiant Black, demand, and going prices on current and pre-Unity books:

I'm so excited for Shadowman to come out! :cloud9:

Good little article... I like the bit near the end that mentions a qualitative difference with Valiant, in that their relaunch is actually generating enough interest in the 90's back issues to cause an increase in value. :thumb:

I gave up on it the day after it came out. Now I don't care which probably means a copy will just fall on my lap

My LCS has the Black set aside for me, retail price $100, with my discount $75. I pointed out that many of the variant covers go for much less a month or two after the book is released and would they consider $50.

He instantly pulled up recent Ebay sales and said they usually determine the asking price by monitoring Ebay. He said he'd hold the book in my name for another week or two to see if the price settles down.

I guess that's something. I'd like the book but it's kinda pricy...

Got mine today. Paid $37.50 including my discount. Not too bad. Glad that I waited. Hope those who haven't gotten one can get one. Some LCS' are greedy and charge $200. Wait for the price to go down.

Check the completed listings for today. It appears they are dropping in price already.

I believe prices for the Valiant Black will be somewhere below by auction $50 in a couple of weeks. The X-O Manowar #1 Gold, it was going for $150 before X-O #5 was out, now they are at $60 BIN + Shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-O-Manowar-1-G ... 337bfddc5b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Autions of the X-O Gold are going for less than $50. I'm starting to see a trend.

Yesterday my LCS received their copy of the Shadowman black and sold it to me for $40; I couldn't believe that they got a copy. It also seems that it was a good price as well, yes? While I cannot afford to get every variant that Valiant is releasing, I am thankful for the opportunity to have been able to purchase this. And with the foster challenges yesterday, this gift was something positive that I needed...LOL

That's the lowest price I know of for a Shadowman: Black. Good score! :thumb:

Here's hoping for more positive stuff in your future. :)

Nor do I. If I get my hands on one, they would have been thoroughly cleaned first, as to not leave messy fingerprints.

I don't normally get special issues like this, so i feel comfortable bragging that my LCS gave me a Black for zero dollars this week! Was very surprised!

I might post something about this in the auction forum, but I just picked up X-O #1 regular, pullbox, Aja and QR covers on eBay for $53 plus $8 shipping. That would put the QR at around $35, the Aja at $12 and the other 2 at $3 each.

All listed as NM from a very reputable seller. On a Saturday evening with lots of people available to bid, presumably.

I might wait on the Black, there seems to be no shortage of the rares even months after they debut.
