I could have gotten several copies of Turok #1 and Magnus #25 for $3 each, but I decided to pass on that deal.

I bet you floated out of there getting those two for 2 bones...congrats

Well, they are a little banged up. Spine creases, scuff marks, etc. But, I was still happy to have them at $1 each!caniac wrote:Heath wrote:Went by a local thrift store today that I heard had a lot of comics. I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Magnus 25 and Turok #1 for $3.00 is a deal like $11.99 for a whopper and fries at a theatre is a deal.hulk181man wrote:Heath wrote:caniac wrote:Heath wrote:Went by a local thrift store today that I heard had a lot of comics. I was on vacation last week and only stopped in one shop, this little one in Boone, N.C. Didn't have much but there was some pretty cool stuff in the 50-cent box. I got Invincible 3 and 4 out of there, surprisingly in NM- condition.

Yeah, at first I thought they must have been some kind of reprints or something. I also got a few Death of Superman books ... is that crap still worth anything?400yrs wrote:Sweet! My brother was with me he said he never saw my wallet fly out of my pocket so fast, my hand was shaking. He did not know what the books were, but by my reaction he said he knew it had to be a good deal. I did not haggle with the guy. I just pulled my money out as quick as posible.

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
I got so excited after seeing the ew vvss I paid him and left. I walked about 100 meters then said to my bro man I should go back and see what else was in the box. When we returned the guy sold the two shot boxes he had for 75. O well I still think it was a good find.

Thats so awesome!!! Does that EW 27 usually go for around $200, as per greg's price guide listing? Whatta score!!cplsimon wrote:Today I went to traders village fleamarket and found an eternal warrior 27 vvss, shadowman 0 vvss, and turok 1 vvss. For 30 bucks. - love finding gems in the wild.

They very rarely come up for sale. When books aren't in the market much, the guide sometimes becomes more of a "minimum guess" for the first one that shows up when there's demand.grendeljd wrote:Thats so awesome!!! That's crazy high bidding happening there - and still 4 days to go?greg wrote:They very rarely come up for sale. Picked up a complete run of individually bagged and boarded high grade Defiant Comics for 13.00. Even had two trades, though not the Birth of the Defiant Universe, of course.

I remember when Greg picked up a Birth of the Defiant Universe CGC 9.8 on the Collectors Society Forum for under $200 a while back, and was shocked it hadn't gone for more.StarBrand wrote:Picked up a complete run of individually bagged and boarded high grade Defiant Comics for 13.00. Well I tried to sell one at $200 for several months, and eventually settled on around $180 I believe...a high percentage of these books are NM/M...bosco685 wrote:I remember when Greg picked up a Birth of the Defiant Universe CGC 9.8 on the Collectors Society Forum for under $200 a while back, and was shocked it hadn't gone for more.StarBrand wrote:Picked up a complete run of individually bagged and boarded high grade Defiant Comics for 13.00. They are gorgeous books. Aren't they done with a plastic cover like the Marvels 1-4 series?
