You would be surprised.

Looks like an ebay VF to me!
I would agree were it not for that fourth colour-breaking stress line in the lower right corner. eBay FN+ at best.
So you are one of those picky guys I've sold to in the past!

You probably are not going to get a completely undamaged shrinkwrapped on for $50, but if you are patient you will find an open one for 50.

My honest opinion is that you will have an easier time buying the original issues than the hardcover. There really arent all that many of the hardcover out there.
Nah, I wouldn't pay $50 for one that someone else owned already, I'm thinking more like, I'm already willing to pay $50, so if I'm lucky enough, I can talk a dealer down next month at HeroesCon, and find a happy medium between $50-$100, and that's if I even can find one. I'll be looking for the single issue's as well, I've already got a spot online to get those from if I don't find them all at HeroesCon, but I'm a collecter (since 12) and the rarity of this Hc, and my new found love for all things Valiant, is what has me excited about the hunt to find one, I'm not rushing though, I have plenty to read in the meantime. :thumb:
I just picked one up for $23.98 on Amazon. Not in shrinkwrap, but I still think that's a good buy. We'll see what it looks like when it arrives.
:thumb: Congrats1 Let us know how it looks when you get it.
I picked up one for $14.00 shipped on eBay 2 weeks ago...not shrink wrapped but had everything with it including the poster :D
I received the book and it was in great shape, but sadly no poster. Now, I have the poster from the tpb. Does anyone know if this is the same poster? If it is, then I'll keep it stored with the hardback.

Slightly. The keys are still doing decent, and especially in high-grade condition. But of course the credibility of the seller and descriptions make a huge difference.

I had one seller calling all his books "Good Condition" because he meant "Wow! These books look reallllllly good!" Received my package yesterday, and his Eternal Warrior 4 & 5 are both 9.6/9.8 candidates. I wish I had bought more from him.

I'd say anything that is dead 9.8 is worth slabing because someone will buy it eventually. Maybe not for alot, but for at least slightly more than cost of the comic and slabbing it. If you aren't sure and have to prescreen then thats another matter.

I think it's lack of true 9.8 condition and the shipping and feebay fees that prevents profit on commons, not the desirability. If VEI continues to gain steam then I can see even commons fetching decent prices in the future.
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

I could not disagree more. Just because a 'worthless' comic is in exceptional shape, doesn't mean it justifies slabbing. You probably weren't around when Zero unloaded all his common 9.8s. MOST of his books went without a 99 cent bid, and I'm sure a lot of board members stepped up because they felt bad he was taking a bath on them. As I've said before, if you want to go after a full 9.8 run on the commons to complete your set, that's great - just don't expect to get much for them in return.

I've bought several issues myself for well above what they are worth, but I did so not expecting about getting my money back.

I would also disagree. As an example that I have seen first hand, I am interested in putting together a Grant Morrison X-men run in CGC 9.8 and for the most part the entire run raw are dollar books. Most of them I purchased were below $20 shipped which essentially 0 profit for the seller or at least a loss. I could see grading books that people are asking for on forums, but not grade them just because they are 9.8's. I am sure there are people on the boards here that are sitting on long boxes of commons waiting to unload. If any do gain steam, the market willl be flooded and the price drove down again.

Also agreed upon a couple points I missed. I think it's just common sense; if I don't care to spend more than a buck on a common, why would I spend the $30+ (slabbed book plus shipping), for a premium of 3000% just because it's labelled 9.8? Just like there's comics that aren't worth the cost of shipping (in some instances), there's a lot of comics that aren't worth the cost of slabbing. We should start a thread about this.... debating what's worth slabbing in Valiant (I think there's probably only 10-15 or so definite books to be slabbed, the rest fall within a scale depending on condition/book).
