Re: **SPOILER** Archer & Armstrong #1 PREVIEW!
i hate to say it, but you can already tell, bad writing..period... boon? king and country? cmon.. this is not paced well and too much backstory in a short time.. with ew and a&a, they shouldve kept it as close to the original as possible.. i really liked the mellow timehopping ivar (EVEN THOUGH I NEVER LIKED THE FACT THAT HE WAS A FORCED POST SHOOTER CHARACTER, THERE WERE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE TWO BROTHERS NOT THREE
), however nerdness aside, this just as someone else said really reminds me of bad VH2 writing. I really expected something more modernized from VEI, i thought it was going to be an indie type book.
The thing that sucks is that if the mess up they cant just re-write it or pretend it didnt happen. Theyve done good so far, i really hope they dont shoot themselves in the foot with a bad book this soon.

Does anybody know where the preview will be published if it will. What is throwing me off in the preview is at the end that shows "to be continued in A&A #1" which leave me with the impression this is a standalone piece and not actually part of A&A #1.

Re: **SPOILER** Archer & Armstrong #1 PREVIEW!
Great artwork! I liked the preview. Sure it had some hiccups in the writing but I'm forgiving. I thought it was a good setup and left me wanting to know more.
Looks like they are quickly setting up the "artifacts" of the Valiant Universe -- the boon and the XO armor. The satchel!?! I wonder if the boon and armor come from the same place and if so, I doubt it's Vine made. I kind of don't think the Vine are behind everything. If the Valiant Universe powers are created via alien influence wouldn't that smack a bit of Ultraverse origins but maybe at the Hero con panel Dinesh was let us know that there would be some Ultraverse influence.
I like what I've seen thus far from Valiant and I am happy to let things play out before making any serious judgement. I'm just glad to have these characters back especially considering they lean to the VH1 characters I love.

Isn't that the wording in the other previews? Like an abbreviation for "from and continued in"?SnotDrip wrote:Does anybody know where the preview will be published if it will. Yes, we'll probably get these pages again in A&A #1, and potentially a few of these pages in Bloodshot #1.magnusr wrote:Isn't that the wording in the other previews? Re: **SPOILER** Archer & Armstrong #1 PREVIEW!
Interviews have mentioned that Armstrong hid pieces of the immortal-maker (boon?) all over the globe. It would make sense if a key piece was also in his satchel, so he'd know when someone was trying to put it back together and they'd need to get through him to do it.The Dirt Gang wrote:Great artwork! There has to be a reason it's called 'boon' and not 'gift'.
The definition of boon has it as a gift/benefit bestowed in response to a request.
Whose request, and what did they do to earn/receive the boon ... and from whom?

Ivar was oldest... as in, born first. He was youngest in terms of 'years lived' because of the time-hopping.MarrowMan wrote:Ivar went from youngest to Oldest huh?

Re: **SPOILER** Archer & Armstrong #1 PREVIEW!
Gilad was the original first born in the Shooter universe, but after he left BWS introduced Ivar and then he was made the "oldest" of the three brothers. Acclaim got really stupid and made thier father "Mog" the oldest, and their mother...who was the immortal enemy...the second oldest. After that it was Ivar, Gilad, Aram, and then hundreds of other immortals were made throughout time.
Kind of strange that they making Gilad the youngest IMHO. I always liked the dynamic that Gilad was the older brother, yet Aram was bigger and stronger (even as children). I guess at the end of the day it isn't critical to either character, just not sure what the point of changing it was (yet). Hopefully it wasn't done just to be a convenient plot point for one issue.

Here's the thing, though, no one (with the exception of the people on this board) likely know anything about the order of the Eternal Brothers births.SJS4 wrote:Gilad was the original first born in the Shooter universe, but after he left BWS introduced Ivar and then he was made the "oldest" of the three brothers. I also think making Gilad the youngest provides for some moments of jealousy from Aram and/or Ivar as he is the most heralded of the group.

That would be an interesting dynamic as well, although in VHI (and VH2 for that matter) I think Gilad tended to be the most disliked by other people. Gilad didn't seem to get a long too well with most folks (other than Buck and Geoff) from what I remember.BugsySig wrote:Here's the thing, though, no one (with the exception of the people on this board) likely know anything about the order of the Eternal Brothers births.SJS4 wrote:Gilad was the original first born in the Shooter universe, but after he left BWS introduced Ivar and then he was made the "oldest" of the three brothers. It might give him an even bigger chip on the shoulder to be the youngest of three? I don't know why this hasn't already been discussed (or maybe it has and I missed it)...
The Biblical references and the destruction shown would seem to indicate TWO very important points:
1) All the women of the earth were killed, but somehow civilization returned.
2) However you overcome problem 1)... in the Valiant universe, every person on Earth could be descended from one of the three immortal brothers (I think I'm decended from Armstrong).

What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter
