WTS: X-O ManoWar/Harbinger Sketch Cover - Sketched by Nord

Post by longshot975 »

:breakingnews: :atomic: :atomic: I am offering this gem up to any boardie who was unable to make it to HeroesCon 2012. These were limited to a print run of 1000 copies of just the blanks and not even sure how many of these would have been sketched because Nord was not sketching them until Sunday. If interested I am asking $200.00 Shipped via priority mail insured in the US. Item is raw and not CGC graded and as I have expressed to others never saw a CGC agent anywhere at the time of signings so not sure if any of these were even submitted for grading so get this HOT item before they disappear into collections and become higher in value than the QR variant for X-O ManoWar or Harbinger #1.

There were some CGC submitted... but you had to go get the CGC witness after the artist arrives at the booth.

Nice sketch!

yeah but im sure that the few that may have been CGC will come back and sell for way higher. Talked to Adam Freeman, the sales manager and was informed the print run on these were at 1000. And that he felt they would not be reproduced. He said they may issue some of a different flip book for like SDCC or others but doubted these would be reprinted so these will be hard to come by.

All true. I asked CGC about Valiant and they said they'd had '10 or so'. That was before at least 4 more (hi, dhudson1!) were also submitted.

Probably fewer than 50 Nord sketches on these at HeroesCon. Varying in size.

Good luck! :)

But that is not to mean that there will not be more in the future.

That's how I see it, as long as there are blanks there becomes a potential for more sketches in the future. I don't know if there will be any way to differentiate between them as long as they're done in 2012. I'm actually surprised to hear there were as few as 50, though. I figured there'd be that many just from the board.

That's why I got several of these. Just in case they do another one at another con I can have something to barter with. :-)

Is this one of those times where people should post a picture of a vacuum?

Hi LITTLE VALIANTFANS MAN

It appears that Mile High is only going to get me about 7 of the second printing, not 10. Oh well.

Cary was only at the Valiant booth for about an hour or so on Saturday and Sunday, and he was too busy to do sketches at his own booth when I went by. That may be why there are not as many of these.

I am hoping to eventually get a sketch on the Harbinger side as well.

Wow, I guess I got really lucky, then, because I just walked up to the Valiant booth when I got there on Friday and got my sketches. I wasn't even really trying, so I just assumed it was an easy thing to do.

I'd also like to eventually get the Harbinger side done, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll be at one of the Atlanta cons this year.

I was kind of goofing around when I got mine. I had gone to Cary's booth EARLY friday and tried to get a full commission but he said he was booked up. I got him to sign my X-O #1 and a few Daredevil issues.

Later I saw him and Robert V. at the Valiant booth I got them to sign my flipbook and FCBD issues. Robert was about to pass the copy of #1 that Cary had already signed to him and I said that Cary had already signed it. I then started laying it on thick..."Cary already signed that one...I remember it vividly because he also flat out said there was no way he'd do a sketch for me and it kind of hurt my feelings". Cary laughed and said that those weren't his exact words. I told Robert that he was right, those weren't his exact words, but my decency prevented me from saying his exact words. That cracked everybody up and next thing you know Cary was doing the sketch on my cover that I posted. Cary Nord is awesome. I'm pretty sure he knows I was just goofing around and not a legitimate d!ckhead, but we had fun with it just the same.

What makes me sad about this thread is that I asked Cary if he had time to do a small remark in my bound Conan book, and he said he was busy doing contracted sketches. I totally understand how busy the artists can get, but then a guy gets a cool sketch and is hawking it? Don't know the situation, maybe he has 5 kids to feed, but geez...cherish the time Cary took to sketch that book and the time you had getting to know the artist.

I for one don't care about his situation. He has 2 posts. Both in this thread.

Fear not... it's highly unlikely that this sells. It is fun to watch/derail, though. 8-)
