Any "Future" comics fans here?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

I really dug Metallix, and Freemind was pretty good too. It's too bad Layton couldn't make this line work.

When the comics first started coming out, I decided to put up a fan site detailing the various titles and characters, and Bob sent me a signed Metallix variant comic for helping to promote his comics.

After the line went out of business, and it was obvious that nothing more was going to be done in the future (no pun intended), I decided to shut down the site, but not before sending all the character bios and pics I had on my site to the "International Hero" site and they can still be seen today on his site here:

Anyone here read these? What was your favorite book?

I haven't read them all yet but once I complete the sets I will read em. I read some of Mettallix and liked what I read and Freemind the few I read were good too. I was more of a DC guy when they were new but got the Free Comic Book day issue these guys released and liked that one also :thumb: If I can get these on the cheap or in trades thats what I do now :thumb:

I loved those books. I wish so much that they could have continued because it was the beginnings of a great universe, I think. I have a full set of them minus the TPBs and the Deathmask variant.

This was a real comic company tragedy that that line went under.

I liked the line and thought it had a lot of potential. I have all of METALLIX and the FREEMIND trade and DEATHMASK #1-2. I also read the unpublished PEACEKEEPER #1 on Layton's site. He also has a Future Comics store up over there as well as some other behind the scenes info about the line. Bob mentioned awhile back that he was in discussions with a publisher to release collections of the Future line, I sent him an email a few weeks ago asking for an update on that situation. We'll have to see if he responds in his next update to the site.

Lightning Strike, I believe, I was at your site before. Nicely done. Hopefully, someday you'll have reason to return it.

Layton responded to my email in his August update. Doesn't look like the trade deal he referred to before is going to happen, but he did mention that there was a major motion picture in development for one of the properties.

I wonder if he'd be willing to post the issues on a download site like wowio.com I've heard from two different publishers that it's an excellent source of revenue. at the very least maybe he can post the unpublished and sold out issues on there. Anyone care to email him this time and ask?

I've only read some of the Free Mind issues, but I want to read Metallix and Death Mask. :)
