Re: First look at Ninjak
Good article. Intrigued already by the other TWO characters V-ditty wants to introduce! And more involvement from Patrick Zirchner is awesome...hopefully he can do a series somewhere down the line (Shadowman!).

Re: First look at Ninjak
I want to be and am excited about the return of Ninjak and look forward to good stories.........
but I still don't like the costume. As hard as many are trying to modernize characters, why don't they dress them the way they would really likely dress if they were real? Unless you can give me a meaningful significance fo rthe purple, I'm going to continue to make fun of it just as much as Wonder Woman's costume, wearing underwear on the outside of your pants, and Rob Liefield's feet (or lack thereof). Sorry

No self-respecting ninja would be caught dead wearing purple. I know 5 personally, and they all told me that.geocarr wrote:I want to be and am excited about the return of Ninjak and look forward to good stories.........

So am I reading that right? Cary Nord will not be the artist for X-O #5?

I read that as well! Too bad!
That being said, I love what I've seen of Lee Garbett's work!

Re: First look at Ninjak
Meh! Looks wayyyyyyy too much like the original aka too much purple. Should of been much more subtle. "why don't they dress them the way they would really likely dress if they were real?" - GeoCarr
"Ninjak is the first classic Valiant character to return after Valiant's major summer relaunch, but there are plans for more — Venditti has been talking with Simons about bringing two more into X-O Manowar." ... Guesses?

Re: First look at Ninjak
and here's more...maybe he'll be a great reimagining of the character, but the look still has me skeptical.

And maybe it's just me, but the costume looks more blue than purple...
One of the articles mentioned a color changing suit. I don't remember that, but it opens the possibility of the suit changing in different situations.
It would be great to insert a joke about the purple suit, like Wolverine's yellow spandex line in XMen.

German? I have seen some Acclaim titles in German, but has anyone heard of any Valiant titles in German? Seems they are stretching things a bit.The title was also translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Tagalog and Chinese
/Magnus
PS, I would like to get my hands on some Tagalog and Chinese Valiant books if someone can hook me up.

Re: First look at Ninjak
That looks like a pile of hot garbage. Valiant has a chance here to be different from D.C and Marvel with a shared universe that exists "outside your window"
if I wanted superhero's in dorky, flashy outfits I'd go back to being a Marvel drone. I'll pick it up, if the story works, I'll keep reading. but this is driving my interest down.

What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

Sad to see Cary Nord go so it appears that the artist merry go round has begun. Lee Garbett is a proven talent however...

Re: First look at Ninjak
I may not remember what he looks like, but I don't see a change in the costume. That being said, though, I don't have a problem with it. I never have. I just hope the character is more interesting than I've heard the original was.

32 and counting - I think there is a 1:5 variant of the 1:20 - so you have to but 5 1:20 to get the 1:5 variant of the 1:20 - and it is not the same as the 1:100 variant which also has a 1:5 variant for it.Rufusharley wrote:XO 5 will have exactly how many versions?

1 1:5 of the 1:100
5 1:100s
25 1:20s
And 5 1:5s of the 1:20s
Awesome.

20 1:20s - 5 will be the 1:5 variant of the 1:20
And 5 1:5s of the 1:20s
But you have to mail in 5 1:5 variants of the 1:100 variants to get the exclusive Mail Order variant limited to 2 copies so first come first serve. Now how many issues will you need to buy to get that variant?

I like the costume and don't understand the problem people are having with purple.
Would an advanced alien armor make itself a brilliant gold so it stood out on the battlefield? Are Daredevil and Spiderman more visible because they're clothed in attention attracting red?
It's a comic book, not a combat manual.
