Listing of all issues and variants for this line (DK)
Is there a listing of all issues and variants and TPBs for this line? I did a search and don't see a complete listing.
Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I put one together, and Chiclo will be putting a more comprehensive one together.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
We very definitely should have one but I am not seeing one.
I will type out a basic checklist following the same format as the DU Checklists from what I know is out there:
Dark Horse Presents (featuring the Occultist) 11 "the Creep" cover, 11 "the Black Beetle" cover, 12 Aliens cover, 12 X cover, 13 Ghost cover, 13 Occultist cover
Doctor Solar Man of the Atom 1 black title, 1 blue title (1:5 variant), 1 SDCC Variant, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, TPB 1, TPB 2
Free Comic Book Day, FCBD C2E2 Variant
Magnus 1 red title, 1 black title (1:5 variant), 2, 3, 4, TPB
Magnus 1 for 1 (reprints Gold Key Magnus 1, cover price $1)
Occultist One-Shot blue title, One Shot red title (1:5 variant)
Occultist 1 red title, 1 25th anniversary cover (1:5? 1:10? variant), 2, 3, TPB
Mighty Samson 1 rockslide cover, 1 eyes cover (1:5 variant), 2, 3, 4, TPB
Turok Son of Stone 1 red cover, 1 blue cover (1:5 variant), 2, 3, 4, TPB
DHP covers were ordered separately and were not offered in any set ratio.
A note about Dark Horse newsstand covers: Direct Sales comics have "Direct Sales" written in the UPC box, whereas newsstand copies have the title of the comic written in that spot instead. We have not as of yet confirmed any newsstand variants from this line albeit their existence is likely. Mile High comics which is neither particularly reliable nor unreliable about such things, lists newsstand variants for Magnus 1 and Doctor Solar 1. If anyone sees further evidence for any newsstand variants, post here!

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
which are considered the varients for the above?
Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
Speaking to that question aside from Occultist issues, the first issues from the line had incentive variants, the FCBD issue had a C2E2 variant, and Doctor Solar 1 had an SDCC variant.fury143 wrote:which are considered the varients for the above?

Where there are variants, I have listed the more common variant first. The DHP issues are 50/50 from what I understand.fury143 wrote:which are considered the varients for the above?

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I refined the list a little more. One thing about starting a new DU list is that for the first few times you look at it, you see things that can be improved.
I added the Magnus 1 for 1 into the main list. I changed the descriptions of the DHP covers and specified which covers were the variants for the #1 issues. It makes it difficult to know which cover you need if all your list says is "1 variant".
If anybody has any input, speak out.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I think the Frison cover for the Occultist was a 1:10 ratio.

I based the 1:5 on what was listed at mycomicshop.com.kevinbastos wrote:I think the Frison cover for the Occultist was a 1:10 ratio.

The Occultist TPB is already on the list.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
There's a lot of good information in the thread about the estimated print runs of these books and I am going to throw up a link here so in the (unlikely) chance that thread gets lost we can find it easily from the sticky.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
What makes these variants different? I don't see any difference in the cover scans. Mile High has a history of listing variants on their website that no other evidence can be found that they exist.StarBrand wrote:Newsstand variants from this line exist.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I don't believe they would create a separate listing, complete with a unique price that is far different from the regular listing and price for no reason. I bought a couple New Universe books from them that they had listed as newsstands and they were. Mile High pays a lot of attention to newsstand variants, and they have for quite some time.Chiclo wrote:What makes these variants different? I don't see any difference in the cover scans. That said, I see no difference in the scan.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I added a paragraph explaining the difference between newsstand and direct sales variants. If we confirm any outside Mile High I will gladly add them to the list.
I am reluctant to add anything to any checklist based solely on their being listed at Mile High. I can point to a couple dozen books off the top of my head listed on their website that don't exist, albeit many of these books were not released during a time when comic fans had the internet to keep contemporary track of such things.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
Another cool thing about the Dark Horse newsstand comic variants, they each have a different tag name for each title.
Here's a pic of last month's worth of Star Wars comics from Barnes&Noble:
Titles like Mass Effect would say "Dark Horse Special" on the UPC boxes and the Buffy comics would say "DH Movie Special".
When they're scanned at the register, the tag names show up on the receipt instead of the actual comic names.
I'm not sure if Barnes&Noble got any of the Magnus/Turok/Solar books since they started putting up their comic sections last Summer which was around the time the DarkKey titles ended. Not sure about ToysRuS either.
I do remember Borders would carry some Dark Horse Star Wars comics on their spinner racks before they closed.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
I ordered the newsstands from Mile High, and they could not fill the order. They acknowledged that their cover scans for both versions are identical, including the bar code. Final word was that they simply do not know if newstands exist or not. It was well handled by the way. I will still get free shipping for the extra book I had ordered. What is less good is that the newsstands still are separate listings on their site. Will be interesting to see if that changes.Chiclo wrote:I am reluctant to add anything to any checklist based solely on their being listed at Mile High.
If the newsstands do exist, I really, really, really want to know about it.

I'm glad you did this, Magnus. I would've done it, but don't really have the money to spend on something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if some books from this line had newsstand variants, as I see Dark Horse newsstand variants of other books out there sometimes.

Re: Listing of all issues and variants for this line
Has anyone else filled out this line?
I went into the old LCS, and Colin had a copy of the Occultist cover. I went to the shelf and pulled a Ghost, too. Of course, now that the story is over, the line has reverted to one cover.
Just the Occultist TPB left before I close the cover of the coffin.
