I bought a Platinum cgc 9.6 off Mikej on the board a few months ago for $1,600.GGSAE wrote:I would consider this if I wasn't lukewarm about the auction. It probably is legitimate, but I trust my gut instinct on all financial transactions and it just doesn't feel right...having said that, this lot (assuming these books are high grade as well), could really be a bargain at 6-1000$. I think the last platinum sold for around 2k, but someone can clarify that for me..cjv wrote:You know, we should form a coalition to buy this.
Everyone donates a certain amount, up to 15 people. The we put that maximum bid in, with each contributor having a certain percentage of the bid. The final cost would be split based on that percentage (assuming it didn't go up to the maximum bid). The person who donated the most would get first choice of what they wanted, the person who put the second most in would get second choice, etc. If we don't have 15 people, choices would be based on the percentage share that you put in.
So, for example, let's say Aram, GGSAE and I agree to bid. GGSAE, being rich, agrees to put in $700. I have a good job, so I put in $250. Aram managed to scrape out $50. That's $1000, so we put a maximum bid of $1,000 (GGSAE has 70%, I have 25%, and Aram has 5%.). If it goes for $900, 75% of that would be from GGSAE ($630) , 25% would be paid for by me ($225), and 5% ($45) would be paid for by Aram.
GGSAE would then get 75% of the books (11 books), I would get 3 books, and Aram would get 1 book. GGSAE would get first choice, I would get 2nd, Aram would get 3rd, GGSAE would get 4th, I would get 5th, and GGSAE would get the remaining books.
Too complicated? I am serious contemplating doing this. Of course, the problem is that the vast majority of the value is from the Bloodshot platinum, so chances are someone would be getting that for a good deal, while others would be paying more than guide value for the other books. Hmmm, maybe I can work out another system.
Chris
EDIT: After thinking about this last night, I can't devise a system that is fair, unless there is a set amount of people submitting for each book, and each person "buys" the book in question (and it is all a proportion of the total price).
For example
Bloodshot platinum would be 60%. If you wanted this book, you would need to pay 60% of the total bid.
Unity Red, Harbinger 0, Magnus 0, A&A 0, EW 1, XO Manowar 0 would all be 4%
Armorines 0, Magnus 21, Rai 9, Mirage 1, Unity gold, Turok 1, Bloodshot 0 gold, Unity plat, would all be 2%
Thus, is we agree to bid $1000 - the person who wants the Bloodshot 0 would put in $600, the people who want the Unity Red (and others) would put in $40, and the people who want the other things would put in $20. Whatever the final winning bid would be, people put in those percentages. So basically, you are "buying" a book or two on your own. The actual percentages would have to be agreed upon - probably based on Greg's guide, rounded to the nearest percentage or something.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
Hi Guys.
I'm Edmond (Agimatoys),selling this Valiant lot on ebay right now.
I'll address some question regarding one particular item the Bloodshot #0 Platinum Edition.
I'm not the owner of this comics though I wish I am:)
He used to own the largest chain of comics shop here in the Philippines called C.A.T.S.(Comic and then some) Collectibles.
He told Me that every time a shipment comes back then, He will Keep at least 1 or 2 copies of the Variant/Gold/Platinum/limited edition of every titles and its actually PURE LUCK that one of those He kept is a copy of this Bloodshot #0 Platinum Edition.
Valiant is BIG Sales way back 90's!
before I decide to post this lot,I research every titles on how much they usually ends using completed listings search on ebay to calculate if the comics is worth auctioning plus the High Shipping cost from here.
I did not find the BS Plat on that search but I just assume No one posted/sold it for the last 30 days and did not bother to check google!
That's the Only reason I didn't highlight or put detailed description on the BS Plat.
I did reply on GGSAE that some of the comics I have here are not worth auctioning on ebay because of the Shipping charge, Minimum EMS charge here is up to 250gms $20.00 , 250gms-500gms is $27.00
so for example if I auction a Wildcats #1 Gold for $20 + $20 bucks shipping I don't think anyone would Bid.
The SAD Part now is that when the Owner knows about the Value of this He wants to End the Auction early and re-list the BS Plat on a separate detailed auction.
I will be listing it this Monday.
I have to apologize on all the bidders but the owner really wants the Best he can get on all his stuff.
Thanks for reading and have a good day.
New Image BS Plat plus some Pictures of CATS Stocks where I found the BS Plat.
"Orange glow" on my first image is not actually a Glow,It is kinda See through as Greg Said the RED Color is running low.

Ouch. I'm pretty sure someone called this earlier, though. At least on the bright side, someone who really wants this book will be able to buy it without being forced to buy all the other books.agimatoys wrote: The SAD Part now is that when the Owner knows about the Value of this He wants to End the Auction early and re-list the BS Plat on a separate detailed auction.

That's kind of what I'm thinking too. I fully expect many people on here complaining about this turn of events, but this book is too rare for people to pass up if they can afford it.bosco685 wrote:MoonChild wrote:That's messed up to end it now, bet it will turn off alot of the bidders.I doubt it, as folks will buy from pretty much ANYONE when they want a book. Watch!
Lucky for me, there is no way in the world I will ever be able to bid on this.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay

When a bidder submit a bid, eBay has this who description of how a bid is considered a contract, and that if you place a bid you are entering into an agreement. If you want to retract a bid, you have to provide justification, you can't just remove one. And it makes sense - by participating in an auction, you are entering an agreement with the seller.
And yet a seller can just cancel an auction, so that he can try to make more money, even if there are bids on it. What happened to the agreement? What happened to the contract that the buyer entered into, by agreeing to bid on the auction.
This is BS. THIS is the equivalent of someone bringing a book from the $1 bin to the cash register, only to have the store owner slap a new price tag on it because he "wants the Best he can get on all his stuff". What is to prevent ANY store owner from upping the price of ANY item while someone is in the checkout line? What is to prevent any auction seller form cancelling an auction or ignoring a bid just so he can get more money.
I will say it again, this is BS.
Yes, people are mad (and rightfully so). The owner (or seller, in this case as it appears to be different) didn't do their homework in advance, and NOW they are trying to make up for it.
Yes, people will still bid. You have a rare item, and people have money. But that doesn't make it right.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
This is something I've never understood. I was always under the impression that the seller was capable of ending an auction only if there were no bids on it. Being able to end it with bidders makes it much harder for bidders to get a good deal. Say I list a Unity Red on eBay with a low starting bid to attract bidders, but then with 10 minutes left I only have 1 bidder for .99 cents. How is ending it early to prevent me from having to honor that sell any different than using shill bidding to drive the price up?cjv wrote:When a bidder submit a bid, eBay has this who description of how a bid is considered a contract, and that if you place a bid you are entering into an agreement. Honestly, with the way the bidding was going, this seller was in no real risk of not making his money. I mean, it kind of works for the future buyer more, because he won't have to pay extra for the other books that he may not want. Unless the incentive books sell for a low price, I can't imagine any buyer wanting to deal with the hassle or delay of shipping for another country. Don't they charge duty on that stuff now too?
I'm 99.999999999% sure that this book is selling to a board member here, so re-listing it with a more detailed title is unlikely to change the people bidding. Maybe it'll remove a few bidders upset about how the deal went down, but I honestly don't think anyone serious about buying this book is going to let it slide on principle.

There's a certain time limit up to in which you can end an auction, I think it has to be greater than 24hrs but don't quote me. I agree with you about it being a board member here, unless that Aug guy catches wind of it now then no one will beat what he wants to pay for it, lol. It's funny how I think when you end an auction you have the choice of, item is no longer for sale, as one of the reasons for pulling the auction, which seems completely absurd!etos45 wrote:This is something I've never understood. As a Non-US-based buyer I deal with int'l shipping all the time (as well as send books out), I rarely consider duty taxes (if charged) as part of the transaction. I'm sure the book will still go for a good chunk, as bosco said, the real buyers still want it - it didn't look like it was going to be had cheap anyway.

If a dealer, I wouldn't return - or bid - again.
Unfortunately, this is a DISGUSTINGLY rare item. If someone REALLY wants it, he/she will still bid.
