My shop had about 20 of the regular cover and 20 of the pullbox variant. There is excitement as expect them to sell a bunch of them during their fcbd sale on Saturday.
I also bought the Aja varian today for $8. Thought it was A pretty good deal

I ordered several via mail order but wanted to pick it up at a shop today.
The store in Lincoln NE had SOLD OUT by at NOON when I stopped in!
Who knows how many they ordered but I gathered it was more than 5 less but than 20.
I made a polite suggestion that they may want to up their orders on Harbinger #1 and X-O #2.

My LCS ordered 50 equal number of PB and regular cover - they have sold about 30 so far. They were allocated on the Aja cover but sold a QR earlier in the day. Positive reaction so far. Only downside is that X-O is the last comic on the shelf of new releases as they put them out in alphabetical order.

They seemed to be selling well at my shop. I had my regular and pullbox versions waiting, there were about 5 more copies on the shelves. My LCS proprietor said it had been selling well.

The LCS I go to is posting on the CGC boards that sales did not go well today. I told him I'll be in for my two copies Saturday.

Same here. And it was kinda hidden by the shelf above.Trenton Sy wrote:Only downside is that X-O is the last comic on the shelf of new releases as they put them out in alphabetical order.
I was there at 11:30, he had 5 Ribics and 5 Nord on the shelf.

Re: What are the comic shops saying about X-O 1?
My shop also puts them alphabetical, but the way their shop is set up this probably helps X-O because its the first comic you see when you walk in.jmatt wrote:Same here. Re: What are the comic shops saying about X-O 1?
I was able to get the reg., pull, 1:20, and 1:50 from a store very close to me. (but i think they just got enough to get me the 1:50 one). And from another store a bit further i got the reg, pull, and 1:20. they didn't get enough to get the 1:50
first place is stoked about valiant. the second is neither excited nor pessimistic.

The place I went to ordered 80 (I think he said, but it was not the boss) and the only Variant they had was the Aja for $18.

Re: What are the comic shops saying about X-O 1?
Too bad they didn't spring for another 20 copies to get the 1:50 they could have sold that by it's self to easily cover that extra amount..Elveen wrote:The place I went to ordered 80 (I think he said, but it was not the boss) and the only Variant they had was the Aja for $18.

Re: What are the comic shops saying about X-O 1?
The store that I'm doing my FCBD appearance at for Man Of God #1 (I lettered the back up stories and helped with the prepress work) had 4 copies each of X-O #1 (Ribic and Nord covers) and he is one of PA's better stores as far as dollar volume and sales go. He hasn't seen any of the dropoff or crunch as far as sales go across the board that a lot of retailers moan about and he brought in the book even tho there were no preorders or interest in it. I pointed the issue out to customers as they came in and they seemed interested. I let them know that Moose Baumann is the colorist on the book, as well as the colorist on the Man Of God covers, so hopefully those remaining 6 copies (of course I snagged one of each) will be gone by Saturday when I show up at the shop. The book is great as far as a reboot of the original concept and hats off to Dino and crew for putting out such a high quality product and a great read. I just hope that the speculators and hoarders don't give VEI a false sense of what the actual sales figures are going forward and kill the line before it gets started proper (we want the books ordered in actual readers hands who hopefully will come back for more). Joe (the shop owner) also has a pile of the reserve order POS counter cards and I'm going to ask him to let me have them at my table to try and get people interested in ordering and trying the books.

Re: What are the comic shops saying about X-O 1?
My LCS got at least enough to get the 1:20 cover, but I forgot to see how many were on the shelf. He didn't get the 1:50, though.
