Nods to Valiant of old
So, as we start to see the new material, I was thinking it would be cool if there are various "winks and nods" to the Valiant of old.
Certainly we have seen the cover as an homage to previous issues. But I think it would be cool to see a little more. Maybe in the background of one panel we see Jack Boniface. Or maybe one of the variants can be an old style gold issue with chromium cover. Maybe we can see Erica Piece somewhere.
I was also thinking about secondary characters I would like to see. While I don't care too much about the PSI Lords, Eclipse, or some of those guy, I would really like to see the Immortal Enemy again.

I would love to see them roll out the gold covers again. I also think if they want to do variants, they should try doing a few with original cover artists and classic logos.cjv wrote:So, as we start to see the new material, I was thinking it would be cool if there are various "winks and nods" to the Valiant of old.

Agreed. I would love to see a lot of classic connections to old Valiant.
Except I want a Psi-Lords book where they fight the Immortal Enemy.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

In a way, this whole line of books is one giant, head-bangin nod to the classic Valiant.

Yeah, I agree. These four books and any future ones are all I need as a nod to Vh1.Dr. Solar wrote:In a way, this whole line of books is one giant, head-bangin nod to the classic Valiant.
That being said, it won't surprise me to see some things thrown in there, but I don't want major cameos and such. They did that all the time in the Ultimate Marvel books, then would have a redesign or new origin that didn't match up (like Gambit being shown on Magnetos island in the first arc of UXM, then having a total redesign and origin that put him nowhere near that story). Or having hookers dressed up as Cloak and Dagger. It just ends up looking silly and is disrespectful of the characters and any future creators who will be using them.
Now using the name Phil Seleski somewhere, since we know he likely will not be in the Valiant books for a very long time if ever, would be different. Or having a car with L8AG1N on the plate, would be fun.

Just the only example I could think of off the top of my head, because they already did it.Dr. Solar wrote:Yes, it wouldBugsySig wrote:Or having a car with L8AG1N on the plate, would be fun.
