What comics are you reading now?

Does anybody here read any of the following?

Uncanny X-Men
Wolverine and the X-Men
X-Men (new volume i think 3?)
X-Men Legacy

I haven't really tried to read Uncanny X-Men since about issue 505, X-Men since about issue #4 and never really read Legacy. Am I missing anything or are these just hype?

I tried Wolverine and the X-Men because I like Bachalo's art and the team is interesting, and it was pretty good. I also tried the new Uncanny which was okay, but not great. Of course if you want to read the best "X" book right now, that would be Uncanny X-Force. That book is awesome.

I think if somebody is reading Uncanny X-Force and X-Factor they are in Mutie heaven.

Just read:

Gates of Gotham - kind of boring
Batman Dark Knight 1-5, 1 - Ok read. Could have been better with another writer. The artwork is worth checking out.
Aquaman 1,2 - Kind of let down. Great art but it felt like there was a shortage of pages in these. Both issues should have been a double-sized first issue with how little the story moved.

Just read Ultimate Power HC. The art was fantastic and the story was good overall, but the ending was rushed and kind of weird. Give it a "B"

I picked up the back issues for these DC New 52 books yesterday and added them to my DCBS pull list: All-Star Western and Batwing. This puts me up to 24 New 52 books/mo. right now, not counting the Huntress, Legion Secret Origins, and My Greatest Adventure miniseries. I had been tempted to add ASW for awhile on the strength of the reviews/reaction to the book, it seems to have been the most well-received book universally alongside Batman and I happened to come across issues 1 & 2 at a LCS while visiting my brother Saturday. Batwing I added on the strength of the opinions of Murdo and Pants from the CGS podcast for New 52 month 2. I have gotten very fond of that podcast and though I don't always agree with the opinions of podcasters, those 2 guys always very clearly explain why they arrived at the opinion they do and I decided I'd give Batwing a try and give it some well-needed support if I ended up enjoying it.

I only read the first issue of Batwing. Wasn't impressed. LOVED ASW though.

You didn't like the Death of Superman? Or just the miniseries where the two of them had a rematch in delux edition books, outside of active continuity-sort of- (and vastly overpriced) for 3 straight months?

I agree. Heck, I'll take the whole cycle of books from Death of Superman through Reign of the Supermen. Is it mindbending, medium-changing literature? No. Is it action-packed and fun to read? Yes.

After finishing my Invincible read...... I was not sure what to do next. I know I wanted a change of pace. So I chose.......

300 by Frank Miller.

I read #1 last night. Pretty good so far. Not much of a written story, but the first few pages of the art is beautiful.

The actual fight is VERY 90s but there is some great stuff surrounding the fight, particularly the impact of his loss. I came across this issue the other day and read it due to the cool cover, good fun:


Bonus points for naming them all! I'd forgotten (or tried to) Martian Manhunter's brief stint as Bloodwing (I think).

I have not read #5 and #6 yet. I really liked the first 2 books. Book #1 is one of the best single books I've read. Period.

Finished Ghost.

Very interested in 100 B. It will take me awhile to read it. I'll have to get it on the cheap, but I think I'll try to get the TPBs. Maybe at some cheap trade bins at cons.

X-Men First Class 1-3 of 8

This is the best mutant book I've read in a while. I love that each of the 3 issues I've read so far are self contained. It's fun and funny. Good stuff.

I wonder if SHIELD is an example of starting a limited series that met unexpected success and the story was changed mid-stream to accommodate an upgrade to an ongoing. There was a gap in publication on the new issues.
