What comics are you reading now?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

I'm loving the current stuff. Since the end of the Viltrumite war I've felt Kirkman has dealt with a slower story in an amazing way. We've been reintroduced to the whole cast, I've found some great humor in there and some pretty serious stuff is already starting to kick off again. Plus theres a bad-guy called Dinosaurus  :thumb: And this issues twist... WOW!

I couldn't wait a month for my copy of 84 to get hear so as I often do on this book, I went to the shop and got a copy.

While TWD is boring me a bit, this book is still doing it for me. I really have no idea where it's going. I know there was that teaser for 2012 a while back...... that should be interesting.

I hope that FCO is coming back on colors. While Ottley and Rathburn are knocking it out of the park, the new colorist seems too soft for the book.

I'm not really looking forward to the next 2 issues without Ottley because the art is likely going to hurt my eyes, but I'm interested to see where this story about Mark goes.
Yeah it'll be a shame to lose Ottley for 2 issues, but at least we're getting on schedule. The colours aren't what they used to be, is it only a short term change?

I'm wondering that as well. I'll look around on the Image boards when I can to see what is up. I know that FCO is working on Batman now, but you'd think he'd be able to color a few books a month, right? I don't know how long coloring takes.

Still working my way through the early Animal Man issues. Up to issue 16 right now. It's definitely getting into some Morrison-ian weirdness, but at the same time it seems to be keeping up the fun level, rather than getting bogged down. I read issue 15 last night and it was extremely gruesome in its depiction of dolphin hunting/mutilation. One thing I can definitely say about Morrison on this run of books is that thus far he's been able to make you feel.

I have some Savage Tales books (Dynamite) so I thought I give them a shot. Know I like D&D sword and sorcery stuff, but I just could not get into it.

I just read Batman 620-625, it's the Broken City run written by Brian Azzarello. I really liked it...... except for the last few pages. But, it was a real good read, the pacing and plot was unfolded with perfect timing. the art was also very good, very Batman-esque style.

Some damn fine books in there. I'm interested to hear what you think of Detective 875-881 and Animal Man 1-3. Tec 875 was one of the best single issues I've read in a while.

I have 2 issues to go on the Detective run. Snyder is quite the Bat writer. Each issue has been very unpredictable which is cool...the killer whale scenes were pretty cool too. Going to read how the whole James Gordon Jr. storyline will wrap up. Whatta nutbag he is. :o Good thing i'm reading this whole run straight through. I have "Gates of Gotham" next to see what else Snyder does in the bat universe. :hm:

Terminator vs Robocop #4 - kind of a let down....fans of the T2 version of John Connor won't like what they do to him here. Rob Williams builds a good story for the licensed books but this finale is a bit lame and underwhelming. This issue took 3 minutes to read.

Star Wars: Invasion - Awesome. One of the best Star Wars ongoings. Tom Taylor writes some mean Yuuzhan Vongs. Awesome series that's set 20 years after Return of the Jedi.

I think you'll be surprised with how he wraps everything up in the last few issues and manages to tie in even the first few Eyes Wide Shut type issues.

Please post your thoughts on Gates of Gotham. I don't have it, but I've been interested in finding out if it's worth it to pick it up.

Gates of Gotham started REALLY well. Painted a beautiful and concise picture of Gotham through the industrial era to now and place all of the characters in the right place for an epic and redefining Bat story. BUT (probably due to the new 52 planning) it had quite a few creative team changes and in the end Snyder's story seemed diluted and incomplete (I don't think he even wrote the last 2 just plotted). It was still enjoyable but could have been alot more.

Snyder's run on Detective was awesome. Alot of people love to bash the bat-books but since Bruce's death I think there has been at least 1 of the Bat books (at the same time) was amazing. Rucka & JH Williams Batwoman in TEC, Morrison's issues of Batman & Robin (culminating in possibly one of my favourite issues ever) and Snyder's Detective being my highlights.

And for every good book there is a Tony Daniel

Industrial Gothic by Ted Mckeever. (1-5 mini series)

I'm wondering if anyone has read this? It is slightly disturbing but...... there is some reason I want to finish it.

It is for sure a Vertigo book, and really out there.
have it. read it. I really dig McKeever's style.

I went through a big time McKeever phase in the mid to late 90's. Tracked down and read just about everything of his, but as much as I like his art the only story or series I ever wanted to read twice was The Extremist. And Peter Milligan wrote that.
I did the same thing. Recently re-read Eddy Current and was disappointed that it lost some of it's luster. Currently, I'm midway through Metropol and still digging it.

Does anybody here read any of the following?

Uncanny X-Men
Wolverine and the X-Men
X-Men (new volume i think 3?)
X-Men Legacy

I haven't really tried to read Uncanny X-Men since about issue 505, X-Men since about issue #4 and never really read Legacy. Am I missing anything or are these just hype?

I tried Wolverine and the X-Men because I like Bachalo's art and the team is interesting, and it was pretty good. I also tried the new Uncanny which was okay, but not great. Of course if you want to read the best "X" book right now, that would be Uncanny X-Force. That book is awesome.

I picked up the back issues for these DC New 52 books yesterday and added them to my DCBS pull list: All-Star Western and Batwing. This puts me up to 24 New 52 books/mo. right now, not counting the Huntress, Legion Secret Origins, and My Greatest Adventure miniseries. I had been tempted to add ASW for awhile on the strength of the reviews/reaction to the book, it seems to have been the most well-received book universally alongside Batman and I happened to come across issues 1 & 2 at a LCS while visiting my brother Saturday. Batwing I added on the strength of the opinions of Murdo and Pants from the CGS podcast for New 52 month 2. I have gotten very fond of that podcast and though I don't always agree with the opinions of podcasters, those 2 guys always very clearly explain why they arrived at the opinion they do and I decided I'd give Batwing a try and give it some well-needed support if I ended up enjoying it.
