Prime printer's proof

Post by depluto »

The copy I had was kind of scuffed so I have always been on the lookout for a cheap replacement. I checked eBay a couple of weeks ago and there were two. One was an auction that bumped up to around $12 shipped and the other was a BIN for around $6 shipped. So I hit the BIN.

This week I saw the guy had the exact same BIN up so I hit it again. Why? Hell, I don't know. I emailed him and asked if he had any more he wanted to pack in. He said he had five more handy and about 100 more in his warehouse. So I bought a few more at $3 each. Why? Hell, I don't know.

Would be interesting to know how many of these there are and how they were distributed. I've always felt the numbers are kind of low since you don't see these too often.

Many of these proofs are one of one. A printer might end up printing a few. I'm not sure why so many of these were made. It would be interesting to see how these were distributed, I agree.

They also come with COAs from Malibu explaining what they are, so they must have had some kind of distribution plan. I don't remember ever seeing anything about these back in the day, though.

They're pretty cool items, that's for sure.

If I didn't lose them during the divorce (actually sold them because she left me with 2 kids and cleaned out the bank account) I would, but I have had them - both came with COAs

I've never seen one of those on eBay, but I've seen the Prime one a bunch. Maybe the Strangers and Mantra ones are scarcer.

If I remember correctly they were exclusives - Strangers for Comic Cavalcade & Mantra for Atomic Comics - got both of mine from Atomic for like 25 each.

I wish the new Valiant would make these.

It is easy to do - just don't trim a certain number of books after printing and BAM! Printer's Proof.
