Signed Ultraverse II Cards

Post by jasonahurley »

There are a few eBay auctions up right now featuring signed Ultraverse II:Origins trading cards that also feature what looks like an embossed authentication.

Does anyone know if these came out of the packs? I've opened a lot of these cards, and not only have I never seen one of these before now, I've never even heard of them. Any idea?

The signed cards from the set came with a Skybox Embossed Seal on them that was punched into the card itself. The cards that came signed were:

7 James Robinson
8 James Hudnall
11 Mike Barr
12 Steve Engelhart
16 Strazewski
20 Steve Gerber
21 Gerry Jones

As far as to how random or how many there were of each I have no idea. I have heard of a Breyfogle card as well but have never seen it.

The hardest card of that set to get is the Original Art Exchange Card. You got it and sent it in for original artwork. Once redeemed it was punched and returned with the artwork. Getting an unpunched one is very, very rare.

Well getting a one of one card 'is' a bit difficult.

Well for the love of God, don't go after the crazy auction that your link points to. I have a full set of these cards and the ENTIRE set didn't cost ANYwhere near $90.... Let alone one card.

Ah, the good old days ... remember when full sets of the signed embossed cards were going for $2-3 each?

I've seen a couple of the Dave Dorman paintings that were given away in a similar fashion for the Ultraverse Masterpieces set. They're pretty small (eight inches high, I think). One was selling for $400, the other $800.

One card per piece of art, matching to that piece of art. The very last Marvel Masterpieces set (well before the started up again here not long ago) were the same. A card matching to the piece of art you were able to redeem it for.

Oh, no! There's no way I'm buying that auction. I'll just buy up a bunch of boxes to crack open (my favorite thing ever).

I would check on the Skybox website as they usually have an extensive list of their cards and keep track of redemption cards that have been redeemed. Well, not sure how far back they would go but this would be good to know information aaaaaannndddd it might be "Upper Deck" that keeps track of things as the sketch card craze is just that... "crazy".
