...and back to Valiant
I guess this is as good a place as any to make my first post. My name is Chris and I have recently become a Valiant fan (again) after hearing about them relaunching in 2012. It seems most dead comic book universes stay dead, or at the very least, get bought out by another company and then buried.
I started collecting comics a little bit before the big '90s boom but stopped collecting around 2001 or so. I've always kept up with general comic book storylines via websites and whatever graphic novels I can get from my local libraries, but it's been years since I've purchased an actual comic book. Hearing about the relaunch of Valiant got me excited again. I tried explaining comic book collecting to a coworker recently and I told her that...well, a lot happens in the storylines but it all seems to reset and get put back to the status quo. Captain America/Superman/everyone else gets killed, then comes back a few years later. Superhero teams break up, then get back together a few years later.
But to me, there was always something different about Valiant. The continuity, the approach to realism, the shared connections. I sampled quite a few of the Valiant books back in the day, but settled on Shadowman as the one I bought regularly. I just spent some decent money on eBay and the Mile High Comics website filling in my Shadowman collection, as well as picking up an entire run of Archer and Armstrong, and a few other Valiant books. I am eagerly awaiting their arrival at my doorstep so I can read the entire runs. I never followed anything after Chaos Effect and the Acclaim books are completely foreign to me. I'm looking forward to the relaunch and seeing where the new Valiant universe takes us.
Hopefully this intro post wasn't too long. Other quick things about me - big music fan (Better Than Ezra, Foo Fighters), work as a graphic designer and live in southern California. Looking forward to spending some time on these here boards and catching up on the past and future of these characters.

Welcome back!
Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.

Re: ...and back to Valiant
Welcome! Great time to join and also re-discover Valiant. Don't worry about long winded posts - they haven't kicked me off for that yet...but there may have been discussions.
Also, FYI, the board members are an excellent source for back issues at great prices.

This post has been carefully constructed so as to add absolutely nothing to any discussion or topic.
