Draco, you have a problem.Draco wrote:OK wheres the checklist for this nonsense ?
i was so close to picking some of this up at the recent show but held back for now.
End of june though i can see me spending £5.00 on a pile just to see howbad it really was.
You used to tell yourself "At least I don't collect Triumphant". Now look at you.
I'm pretty close to the full line myself.

I don't think the writing on these is too bad, in fact, it's pretty good. I read a few issues of the Chromium Man, and it was a pretty good original concept.Draco wrote:Ok i finally dipped in apicked apile of these books
what really scared me was the issue i tried to read wasnt as bad as i thought i would be.
They still look like crap and all that collectors numbers just sends a chill through me
It's just the artwork looks like crap, which kind of spoils it.

I always try but end up reading a few especially if I get between the first 10 to 20 issuesDraco wrote:This is my plan for all DU & DFT's.Chiclo wrote:I need to sit down and figure out if I've got this full checklist. I'm close.
Once I have this full set, I'll read it. I think of it as Knightt-style.
I want to finish them and sit and read for a year.
Re: Triumphant Comics
I remember when I saw ads for Triumphant in Wizard. And thought it had to be the bottom of the barrel of that era. Well last year I had won on ebay and random lot of 100 comics. And in there was an almost complete run of Chromium Man. So I read it,and besides the art not being that great it had a good story. So I have been slowly getting more of teh series. Picked up about 4 issues of Scavengers this year at a con. And again it is well written but the artwork is pretty bad.

I used to joke about this publisher being truly awful, but the joke is on me, as they werent nearly as bad a s it thought they were. In fact artwork aside they are actually well put together.
I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

Re: Triumphant Comics
If you like the poster art, why not? Then you can collect them all again.

Re: Triumphant Comics
Having started reading Dr Chaos - I think they ARE that bad; maybe the line has some variation in qualities?Draco wrote:newt138 wrote:I remember when I saw ads for Triumphant in Wizard. VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
Re: Triumphant Comics
I've been impressed with what I have read from Triumphant comics so far. Granted not many titles/issues but the writing MORE than made up for the catastrophic failure in the art department.

Re: Triumphant Comics
Odd question here: If anyone has these issues, could you tell me the GYC date on the cover?
Chromium Man #1
Riot Gear #0 (Does this book even exist? Never seen a cover scan of it)
Scavengers #12 (Again, has anyone actually seen this? I know it was solicited, but...)
Thanks!

I just got a bunch more of these. I'm close to having a reading set of some of the series. I'm weirdly looking forward to it!

Re: Triumphant Comics
When I was young and stupid and thought the idea of serial numbered comics was a neat idea, I thought these were a great find:

Re: Triumphant Comics
That's pretty cool. I bought a large lot of Triumphant comics on eBay one time (75 or more) and even though there were lots and lots of doubles, there were several consecutive doubles and triples on the serial numbers. I think there was even a consecutive hextuple.

Re: Triumphant Comics
I just read my few Triumphant issues and posted commentary on Twitter using #TriumphantReread, if anyone's interested.
Re: Triumphant Comics
Nice to see these books getting some love. Not too long ago, I sat down to begin reading the entire line. The reading is really pretty enjoyable ! But as with just about everything... life got in the way and the books remain unread. But maybe, maybe if I cut my workout a bit short, hurry my Honey-Do list, and stay up an hour later, I might be able to squeeze this Dead Universe back into the world of the living.
Maybe.
Maybe.
