anyone reading the new conan series?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

As good as a comic can get. Top-notch stuff.

I'm reluctant to add anything else to my pull list these days but this made the cut.

Conan will always be one of my favorites. He's a lot like Bat-man in the fact that he's a normal a$$-kicker in a world of high-powered beings and he lives (or dies) by wits and his own strength. The fact that his early stuff is BWS work don't hurt either. They've got P.Craig doing a Mini that's been nice work thus far too.

Fryin'. In his later years, Conan discovered a new way of cooking meat - ground up the meat, then form it into a "patty." It is then fried on a hot grill. Conan went on to found a chain of restaurants called "Conan, King of Burgers." Unfortunately, the chain was bought out and Conan's name was obliterated, although the chain survives today as "Burger King."

And now you know...

If that's true then I'd like Conan to show up and kill this creepy *SQUEE* that keeps showing up in my yard and bed room. I DON'T WANT BREAKFAST, BY CROM!

I've been buying up the first 10 issues (including #0) of this series like crazy on eBay. This series will be a very hot collectors item here in the future.

Low print run
Under ordered
Great series with top notch art
Big fan demand
Issue #1 has an all white cover making it hard to find in 9.8 condition.

The only problem I have with buying this for resale is that means I'd have to sell them...

...that's hard. REAL hard.

Of course, this is one of the few times I've seen someone do Conan *right*. Now, if only the next rumored movie takes the time to read these...

I've just got to say I loved the last issue. Especially the plot twist that's hinted at on the identity of the Vizier who's telling Conan's story the Prince. The series biggest twist yet and a stroke of pure genius. Busiek's at the top of his game :thumb: .

Strangely the first issue of Conan that I read was issue 1, but not the first issue. Luckily my first issue was a reprint of issue 1 when Barry Smith was behind in the Red Sonja story he ended his run with.

From there I caught up on the back issues and stuck with the series until Roy Thomas left. He really built up a fantastic history for Conan between the colour comic and the black and white stories in Savage Sword of Conan, which enabled him to tell stories from later in his life.

I've just ordered the hardcover collection signed by Kurt Busiek, so I'll get back when I've read them. Really looking forward to seeing these stories, the fan feedback is really good.

If you follow the links to the Conan website from Dark Horse's site, did you all know that they are producing a series of books containing REH's stories without any editing?

It has been done before, I picked up a series of paperbacks years ago that did the same, but from the sound of it there is a lot of background material in these new editions. The collector's editions are $195 and more but you can pick up a paperback version from the usual places.

Excellent series :thumb:
